i take the edge out of my mouth, like a piece of gum that i have been constantly chewing
the edge is the ritual, the comfortable, just like the gum which is soothing and busying up your mind.
harmful and ignorant the gum causes you to bite your lip
a couple triggers of pain soar thru your mouth but you dont notice
you acknowledge this, but do not care by now
it is 1am at night but the carnival lights in your head continue to stay lit
a couple flashing lights shine bright and far, blinking inconsistently every couple seconds
the empty field filled with plates of half eaten hot dogs surround the trash cans
just like the gum, the trash cans go unnoticed. it is there but it is not considered.
i close my eyes. lids are heavy and my mind starts to wander in a tranceful fog
the fog gets thicker and thicker but all the sudden a piercing light begins to blink.
god dammit, someone has got to fix those carny lights.

It means a lot to them, as it does to you.
