I told you I am replaceable
    You would one day, inevitably
    Intentionally or unintentionally
Do as the rest have in my life have ... replace me

For I am that cracked coffee mug,
    That ripped cushion,
    Or your run down car.

    Objects in which are replaceable
    Just as I am
    A replaceable object

Only good enough for an unsaid amount of time
    No time
    No person's time is guaranteed.

A lot of people tell me to let my secrets out so they don't have power over you.
    How can I?
When no one sticks around long enough

When my time with that person is unknown.
More often than not, when I gave myself away, it came back to hurt me.
    When a secret is out
    Apart of me is out
It's something that belongs to others now
And you don't control the darkness anymore...

naming objects that we don't think twice about replacing to make your point was very well thought indeed. however, i found myself wanting more of this analogy and was given repeated moans of how replaceable you are. this seemed as a chocolate bar where the first bite tastes sweet and inviting, but by the second bite you recognize the lack of flavor. you had a wonderful start, please continue in this same strength! i see great potential in the piece. :)

I have heard it said that "forever", as far as relationships go, is as long as the relationship lasts. That may seem negative...but it's true of any relationship. They only last for a finite amount of time. That being said, regardless of how long you have with someone, I believe you should belong to it like it was your last...note every moment...enjoy every breath...live it. The good and the not so good.

As for those things that need replacing...the most comfortable things are those that are known to us. That pair of beat up slippers, that worn out bomber jacket, and that beat up pocket knife that never fails to save the day. You don't know that you'll miss those things until they are gone. It seems to me, that the writer of this poem (you?) hasn't found someone who recognizes all the good that they bring to the table. You deserve to be appreciated!

I always enjoy readIng your thoughts...they stop and make me think.

    Thank you for sharing,

    Kelly
