    The death of ambition
    is often as silent
    as a falling feather.

    Does a bird notice
    one missing pin
    when spreading its wing?

    While flight looks the same
    to those on the ground,
    the change is so subtle

    it would take a poem
    to tell the difference.

It's funny. I really enjoyed this, but for me the poem didn't need the first stanza. What was powerful for me was what came after. I especially like the end.

    Nice write.

That first line is very powerful. Often when we lose ambition, no one knows but us and it can be hard to recognize. I notice when I start to lose my ambition it is because my focus is on things that are not helping me. It is a very subtle shift when this happens but after time I can feel it in my mental state. Being complacent is usually the result. Good poem though. :)

Sometimes the death of ones ambition is merely a redirection towards a new goal. Granted that my be to stay stoned all day and practice mental masturbation but we humans are goal oriented. If we don't have one we manufacture one. Though we may miss that feather it won't define our urge to fly. Fly on poet!
