A constant reminder of what was dysfunctional
Now absent family I was apart of

Only a scapegoat to my Mother
A means to an end to my Step-Father
And a misunderstood little sister to my older brother

    My heart forever jaded
For my entire childhood was taken hostage,
    Never to be set free

Ultimately becoming the black sheep of the family
Played as the chess piece I represented to my Mother
Just another little girl to pleasure himself, my step-father.

Just a little girl longing for love and willing to accept it in any form...
    Now an adult -
Aching to get back that childhood and nonexistent memories
Pleading with whatever is out there to take this darkness

The emptiness that never seems to leave...
    ...

Very awesome and gripping poem. Sad though. I only hope this isn't a real life experience. -Lisa
