Description:

WOW! This shot out of me in 15 minutes!

Do You Think You Know Me?

Do you think you know me?

I am the universe about you; and the stars above; do you know how many working parts I have in me? In cogs and wheels and thoughts, I think on ten different levels and I love on a hundred. Don’t dare to assume that you know me.

I am a paradox in three strophes, a mystery, an enigma, I am the lion and the sparrow, the terror of thunder, and the incandescent lightning.
You do not know what I am-

You have no idea

What I’ve seen, the struggles I’ve faced, nor the strength I possess; a strength that propels this anvil heart towards the wheeling world as a turbine. Do you think you can judge me by size or shape or color? Is my existence found only in my abs, my eyes, my arms?

Light breaks in the umbrae between the secret of my chest and chin like pink twilight falls between the crag and sea; the places you have no knowledge of, the places unseen by eyes, the places only meant for those that have sight to see.

Do you think you can reduce me to a stack of bones and a pile of flesh?

I’ve had innocence ripped from my bones and wonder stripped from the marrow; yet I thrive. I am the fervent sun that burns yellow with knowledge, lithe with love and light. I cannot be reduced! One day you will learn to fear what I am!

Do you think you know me?

I have existed eons with the mountains; we have looked down on you and scoffed at your incessant flexing, first in the lake and then the mirror. I sang with the stars the moment they drew their first breath and skipped in the palm of God.
You do not know what I am-

You have no idea!

I am the ocean, the forest, the jungle, life stacked in the corners of the axis of darkness.
I am the pendular eye of the owl; I see everything;
I know your words and thoughts and sins.

First it was several older boys, several times in the school bathroom; after which it was the son of my mother’s friend, a curious nun and homosexual priests. For a time all I thought I was good for was a gander and fodder for the older boys and men. For decades I’ve wiped the taste from my mouth with delicacies to intricate for you to understand. I’ve grown fat and flourished.

Dare to assume you know me?

You have no idea what I am-
