    to see Polaris in mind,
    illuminated waters of a flooded galaxy;
    illuminated the beginning of time,
    drowning - the light in our eyes.

    Duplicitous hope,
    hanging on through diurnal tides,
    swept away in this ocean of night,
    lost under a ravaged sky.

    Future uncertainties remain bright,
    like a Will-o-the-Wisp’s lies;
    like a facula of the Sun,
    wasting it's guiding shine.

    To wander under the familiar,
    imagery the ancestors climbed,
    a blackened tree of infinity,
    blooming fruits of unknown possibilities.

    to see Polaris in mind,
    is a reminding swipe of the divine,
    that all are lost in denial,
    such is the hubris of life

    This, aside from the words, seems to speak of having the experience of long personal observation in this matter.

    Thoughts: Polaris is the one star which doesn't move across the sky while I personally view such movement as representative of both the figurative and literal passage of time. The hub of the ever sweeping clock hand, perhaps.

    At the same time, your poem speaks of time present, past and future as well as infinity, while the fixed Polaris watches on. How many other worlds, perhaps an infinite number is this true for? Is not the Milky Way Galaxy itself also so aligned, more or less?

    Around and around we go, but not Polaris. Nice observation. But Polaris is regarded as a star, not a constellation. Yet I find from Wikipedia that "Polaris is a multiple star, comprising the main star (Polaris Aa, a yellow supergiant) in orbit with a smaller companion (Polaris Ab); the pair in orbit with Polaris B (discovered in 1780 by William Herschel). " - so perhaps you are correct after all.

    Machiavellian, if considered with an open mind, is a practical way of doing things even if it portrays itself as "self-centered". I guess if we're looking for a "center" in the night sky, again that is Polaris.
