    dotsTo the Devil and Candledots
    -------------------------------------------

    Gallivanting pleasantries
    preying on flesh and desires,
humorless light languishes on in sadness and ire
    speaking subconsciously,
    to Mephistopheles.
    Damning,
to strike a deal with fire,
    candles only shine so bright.
    Fleeting moments in the sun,
    knowledge gained will become undone,
eyes blind in the forever night.
    Be it Goethe's or Marlowe's,
the Devil does not change in time,
    but man will.
    Faust to wager or accept,
    terms to ink his end.

    Submerging culpability,
    stalking with a lust;
    a vanity.
Sleights against that of love, thought benign,
    drowned in her hands,
    a child of tomorrow.
    Damning,
to know it all and be so free,
    candles only shine so bright.
    Even if one cannot see,
    the feeling survives,
of burning, of loss, far into the night.
    Left to grieve,
on the banks of the eternal empty,
    the earth and rain came,
    to forgive and to save.
A reminder that ink is just that,
    blackness,
    able to be washed away.
