I see you in the storm-
In the lark that carries your heart to me in wreaths of dusk
-Lightning unfurls in pirouettes of you –
The silver streaks slice the clockwork stars
They are silenced by my immense sorrow-
That I’ve strung with heavy words
As yellow garland around the ravens
The rain gathers around my clay-clad feet
My toes are red with mire – as red as empty wine vats
They’re sunken ships-
Silhouettes of voyages and laughter lost
That which the sage, sea turtles pass-through
And ponder the longings of lovers for 33,000 days
-Here I love you-
In the harrow of absence
In the residual dream of you
In the loss of sky in our hands
I see your face in the glinting moon
That rides the torrents like a chariot
Your voice flowers over the wet air
In pink and purple poppies that explode
Like sunrise across the wings of cardinals
Tell me, does my love still pierce the violent night
And bathe your violet head for slumber?
Do you sense me on your skin as a fiesta of suns?
My soul will close the expanse between your bitten lips
And my sighs
It melds into the corners of your mouth
As dew that sticks to the sapphire breast of twilight
Can you still taste me?
Do you feel my love firing like pistons beneath your skin?
Do you sense my ache for you?
Oh! how these pinions grind-
One. Turn. At. A. Time-
They’ve stripped the cogwheels-
The copper mounds in thin strands
That smolder in my hands
In that day I shall explore the axis of your body
As it revs and revolves among the galaxies
My lips will seal your knees, your wrist, your thighs
In burnished copper
I will unsheathe you as a scroll
I will unfold you across my chest like a firmament
I will sing the melodies skipping across your smooth stone skin
I will extol each freckle, devour every scar, and lick each line
-Oh! My darling Honeysuckle-
To clench you between tongue and teeth-
To carry you as the sea carries the secrets of the dead
To wrangle your waggling body and bind it with mine
-Oh! If only to swaddle you
As the bud of evening swaddles the lithe bloom of day-
