    Tonight I found a one-winged bird--
    A broken-bell
With the ache of moon in her eyes

I peeled her from the wet black night
And pressed her to my chin
I held her as a cluster of fruit

(As softly as the orange I placed in my father’s hand)---

    Her scent
    Circled my dreaming head
Like the indigo night circles fireflies

-I know its love that took her wing-

The light of new wounds lighting
    A thousand nights of travel

I‘ve seen dawn’s first light thrash red across that wing

    Which wearing sorrow as water
Returns to the earth from which it sprang

And perhaps this is why love takes a wing
Only to return it in oneness with another

I, too, shall return, my purple gorrión - to
    Your lips
    Your knees
    Your side
    Wing mounted and
Bearing dreams for the lolling world

The night a wound beheld a wound
and did its best to soothe the ache
it seemed as permanent as hope
and then left sorrows in its wake...

Just thought on the thoughts that led to yours.

    This. This is true poetry.

    Lovely. Gut-wrenching. Poetry.
