Description: Written for this story I'm starting to write... about a crazy cast of nine evil... well, stereotypes, really. There's the Fallen Angel (the She of this poem), the Prince of Darkness (the speaker), the vampire seductress, the girly mage, et cetera.
She Bleeds -------------------------------------------
Her open cuts begin to bleed
She falls upon her pale knees
The feathers drip, the feathers fall
Is she an angel after all?
And you have seen her soaring
On a pair of broken wings
You've never seen her bleeding
Though you know she's cut so deep
Her crystal tears begin to flow
Her love and sorrow grows and grows
The blood that drips, the blood that falls
Is she an angel after all?
Oh curses to the devil
That could cause her so much pain!
Oh woe upon the devil
Who would hurt her in this way!
Now in her heart she knows what's true
What once was gold shines icy blue
The words that drip, the words that fall
Is she from heaven after all?
And all that I can give her
Is a shoulder where it's safe
And even though I love her
She will never feel the same
Rising from the ground she sighs
And wipes the teardrops from her eyes
"So now I trip, and now I fall
But now I'll stand and face your call."
Standing by the window
He turns around and sighs
And I know he is as heartless
As the day he left her side
"Lucifer, you've changed too much
There's something different in your touch
The tears must drip, the tears must fall
Do you believe me after all?
I thought that you still loved me
But it seems that I was wrong
It's time that I stopped crying
It's time that I moved on
And now I think I've changed my mind
So after all that I can find
My tears will fill an empty pail
But in the end, I will prevail."
Through all of this he calmly takes
A cold, impassive, heartless face
And all the courage she has shown
Has only left her out alone
Now all that I can give her
Is a shoulder where it's safe
And even though I love her
She will never trust again.
