I was asked to write a poem for my former Supervisors retirement party. I tried to do more than to just focus on him. There are a lot of qualities in him that are within all of us. I wanted to think of a couple 'Larger than Life' monuments around my life(Bieing from the State of Maine).

I have changed a few lines from the original to make it more personal to me. The first draft was person to my former supervisor and will stay with him in its untouched form.

I am placing this on this site to add to the many works of writing that I have accomplished in my 35 years on this Earth. I hope you like this. Any thoughts or personal reflections that are generated from this are very welcome. I bid you a Great Day!

A slight breeze touches the landscape sending a little ripple across the canopy of a small lake
    Somewhere in Norther Maine.....
Eyes open and peer out at this beautiful sight.....
Waiting for the slight lapping sound against the
    side of a boat.....

Looming on the horizon Mt. Katahdin sends a
welcoming cool shadow over the warm summer
Eyes wander to the top of this mountain
Representing thousands of years o strength
    and integrity.....
A mountain that has enjoyed countless
A mountain that has perceviered through all
A mountain that will always stand for all that is
This mountain will continue to exist in all
    It has Touched.....

One seagull stands on a rock.....Looking out
over the vastness that has been it's.....
    Years have touched this bird
One thing has stayed the same.....
    An ocen of strength.....
An ocean that has provided nourishment
    when the bird is hungry.....
An ocean that has helped creat rain
    when the earth is dry.....
An ocean that has shaped all that is around it
    Creating a world.....

We should be thankful to treasures handed.....
Treasures can truely touch and effect each
    passing generation in a way
That shapes and moulds life .....
Learning this this is a Treasure.....

I liked the imagery in this very much...it is a nostalgic piece for sure. Maybe you could maintain the same voice throughout...there are quite a few typos/spelling mistakes that you could fix by using a spell check....I think this is a wonderful panaromic poem in the making
