Feel Like A Failure -------------------------------------------
Feel Like A Failure
These metallic chains that hold me back
Are becoming more resistant everytime I move.
And the intelligence that I lack
Makes me feel like a failure.
This illustrious fantasy that dwells in my mind
Is becoming more elaborate everyday.
And this unseen, invulnerable wall I hide behind
Makes me feel like a failure.
I see your vigilant eyes inquiring in the dark.
They lurk behind me wherever I journey.
Your eyes are like fire and they cast off a spark.
They make me feel like a failure.
I totally agree with eener. Those are the feelings I got from this piece. But I do think it's your parents that have you thinking this way about yourself. You can't climb the wall while you're in chains and you can't get out of the chains while your parents are watching, waiting, and inticipating for you to fail.
Its sounds like you have controlling parents...or a boyfriend possibly. I like the imagry of this piece. The more you try to struggle against the chains, the more the hold you down, and you fail because you don't possess the knowledge that you know exists to get yourself out of those chains. Yep, sounds like someone is controlling you. They promise you things that make you dream of achieving, but something is preventing you from achieving them, and you fail because you can't seem to climb the wall that separates you from your dreams. Finally, their eyes are constantly watching you and waiting for you to fail, with their critical and cynical eyes, so of course you feel like a failure. The chains create the wall, don't they? If the eyes stopped watching you, the chains could be broken free, and the wall would fall down. I love the way this piece makes me think. Well done...
mm.. i can sortof see what your trying to point out. then again everyone has their own meanings... the first stanza made me think the person is weak, is always being held back, failing to escape.second stanza made me think that the person had a dream and wasnt able to achieve it making it impossible like a childs dream to fly like a bird... failing at that. third stanza i got the imagery that there was someone watching me, grading me at all my failure making me feel just low and un-able to achieve anything. then again, it makes me think that the person watching me is using me to achieve their dream, yet im the one failing.. not wanting the dream they're after.
i can interpret this in a million ways... what does it mean?????????????????????????????
