Chapter One
It seeped through the cracks of her windows tantalizing her. The light seemed brighter than usual and she more tired. She grinned at the approaching day and the following hours. The day to her already seemed too long as if it were just dawdling along, mocking her. Six-forty five the clock read,
she baffled "forty-five minutes late I should have been up...great. "
Soon, slowly but surely she knew she had to get up, tiredly but angrily she sat up and started rambling and yelling, "Who the hell in the damn world cares!"
Her mother then immediately came knocking on her door, already unremittingly telling her how late they were going to be if she did not get up and how she was already yelling nonsense the minute she awoke. After her mother left the room it fell silent again, back to its bleak solitude, the lights fade and so do the memories.
The air night was chilling and unfair. It swept across the city so fast and harsh; it felt like needles piercing your skin. However, it felt famed to her. She could still hear her family arguing two streets down, yelling at each other for no other damn reason but for lust. It seemed that everyday her family fought with each other one way or another. She kept walking for a few more minutes then she noticed that the wind had stopped. It was hard to believe that just moments ago how unkind the wind was, and now it was silent and rustled not one leaf. She turned one last corner and there it was just waiting for her. Hell and yonder. She stood there looking out towards the sea just off of the cliff. The night sky was clear and the sea calm. She clamped her fists tightly closed and locked her jaws. The thoughts running through her head all in a mess, all of the memories reminding her of what she'd become. All of the tears that she had cried, now dried up and long forgotten. No longer would she shed another tear, not for herself or for anyone else. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath and listened to the silence. How she longed for her memories and thoughts to fade faster away, silenced forever. Nevertheless constant words in her head over and over replayed every single minute every single shitful second, reminding her about how much she had failed and how useless her life seemed and was. She then took one step forward and two steps backwards, "Just like my life, "she whispered. As she approached the house everything peered differently. No lights came from the windows and no sounds came from the house. When she got to the doorstep of the house she stopped and just waited, waited for something better to come along. In all fairness though nothing happened so she pick locked the front door and slipped in. She hesitantly stepped inside and heeded to her path upstairs to the room. When she got up in the room she opened the window and looked outside to what she came to fancy, and than she looked back into her room to what she envied and hated. Slowly she slid down to the floor and placed her hands upon her face covering it completely, peeking through her fingers she glanced and just started to stare upon the nighttime hours. The morning sun came once again, although this morning was unalike any other. As her family stirred inside the house, getting ready for another day,not one person noticed the change. The quietness that lurked around, and the whispers of lost souls crying for what seemed inevitable. The door cracked open upon arrival of a guest and left with not one disturbance. Just as the family discovered an empty bedroom amassed with blood, dripping from the walls to the floor and soaked in the sheets and upon scattered clothing. The horror brought to the family as it did to her, Dima Lee-missing-and she would stay so-gone forever not even a corpse left to tell of her story-only the silent cry of mercy.
Not one breathing creature stirred and not one ray shown through the window from the sun. Outside was steady, as the sky got ready to release its tears. Morana stumbled out of bed with her head pounding and eyes out of focused. The room was spinning and her knees gave way to the cold, gravel floor. As Morana fell to the ground her body started to tremble in reluctance and finally she caved to the ground. No-thought Morana-get up! – And then she fought to stand once more. Leaning against the wall for support, she could feel the cold winter air rushing in through. It felt good the coolness against her bare arms. Flashes of lights came to sight as Morana closed her eyes; sweat dripping down her face and arms to stain her gray shirt with wetness.
“Just a Dream-it was all a dream-I am I am-no longer...no,no more.”Morana said reassuring herself, swaying back and fourth-back and fourth. Then with a sudden burst of noise the alarm clock went off. Morana’s eyes shot wide open and then she walked carefully towards the noise to turn it off. After she had turned off the clock, Morana sat back down on her bed to think of what to do tonight. It had been a week and a half since her last meal and only now did she realize how hungry she was. It was a hunger like no other. Her throat was dry and felt cramped, every ingest was pain. Then in her deep thoughts she came out of it to hear clear, hard knocks at the door. One, two, and then three.
The knocks died down for a moment, and then the door swung open hitting the wall and leaving a slight dent. There in the door way stood a black shadow tall and lean with bold shoulders drenched in water. The lights flickered and then everything went into complete darkness. All that was left to stare at were eyes, glowing eyes that had fierceness and cold shadows in them. They started to peer around the room seeing that it wasn’t much decorated. The room was filled merely with a bed up against the wall, a nightstand perched just beside the bed, and a chair stacked with clothes pressed close to the walls as well at the foot of the bed. The nightstand detained a clock and three candles standing up in a bunch together creating a small circle surrounding an equally small box. For a moment everything went still and then, with an unexpected rupture of life wind and rain started gushing through an open window across the room facing opposite from the bedroom area, blowing out the burning candle flames and after that the shadow in the door way disappeared. |
