    Description:
This is about a rather morbid guy I know. My friends and I call him "our dark friend."

    -------------------------------------------

He said he wanted to know the entirety of the human condition,
for the ugliness gives the beauty meaning and perspective.
    I thought he was mad
    with his stylish frown
    and his casually gloomy clothes.
I was sure he was mad.
    He collected morbid photographs:
    his stories gave me chills.
    To me, art was always
    beauty and shimmering life,
but now I know the beauty of the blackness.
I know the silence from the music.
    I am whole.

Very ture concept... you have to acknowledge the bad to understand (wholly) the good. I wrote about the same thing in an essay titled "The taste of Victory" if you care to check it out. Another great write.
