    dotsThe Immaculate Misconceptiondots

    Looking for justification
    Searching for a reason
To loot and rape and plunder
To commit violent acts of treason

    A war so bloody
    And so violent
Hack your fellow man to bits
    Spilling blood in anger
On land sacred to us both
    My hands are tainted
    With the gory glory
    Of godís creation
    Staining my righteous right hand

    Not a reason to kill
    But a reason to love
    Destroying the creations
    Of your saviour above

    The lord is my shepherd
    He protects me
    Not from my enemies
    But from myself
    And my sins
    He died for my sins
    And nobody elseís
He forgives us for killing each other
    Just like we killed him
He protects me not from what I am receiving
    But from what Iím giving

Die, in the name of the cross
Lie, in the name of the cross
Live, in the name of the cross
Never forgive, in the name of the cross

    Promise me a future
    And Iíll destroy the present
    In your name
    Promise me a future
And Iíll do whatever you say
    Swear that thereís a heaven
And I swear Iíll die for you
    Under threat of hell
    I do believe in you
The truth is what you say it is
Please make my truth come true
If you do this thing for me
    Iíll kill and die
    For you

    An excuse for war
    For violence
    For insurrection
    Itís all based upon
    A wild belief
    In the immaculate misconception

      Promise me a future
    And I'll destroy the present...
So many ppl don't relize how often this happens and there was this line
He forgave us for killing each other
    just like we killed him...
Beautiful. I'm not really a religious person... i believe that there is some sort of higher power but as to who or what I am at a loss. I do know that there are many many truths in this piece, and that I appreciate it very much. Really good write, man... lots of love

      go you!
    this is so well done!
the immaculate misconception... the sarcasm drips from those words.

    The lord is my shepherd
    He protects me
    Not from my enemies
    But from myself
    And my sins
    He died for my sins
    And nobody elseís
He forgives us for killing each other
    Just like we killed him
He protects me not from what I am receiving
    But from what Iím giving

most of all i loved this stanza... the lord is my shepherd... a psalm most of the world knows whether theyre into god or not...
the twist you put on this... the irony... the sarcasm... so scathing... i really like it... im prolly not sposed to but it is a very effective way of displaying your point...
war is completely unnecessary and all these "holy wars" when God is a God of peace and restoration and reconcilliation... hmmm... someones got the story a lil wrong...
die, live, lie in the name of the cross... so straight up... ive just graduated from bible college last week and one of the courses i took was church history and from some of the things i read in the manuals disgusted me to the point of almost being ashamed to be associated with the church... i realise no man is perfect and all have killed in the name of their God but still...
anyways... i shall shut up already... just know that i really liked the presentation of this write and your scathing sarcasm... very pointed... very powerful.

Always arrested my that effin' purple hippo on your page! lol! Any ol way, about you poem -I'm actually a devout christian, but I've felt this way many many times...especailly about america - we're the proverbial big cheese with our thumbs in everyone elses pudding. There are those in the states that feel that war is some sort of god given right. But this has been true throughout histroy, and all over the world...holy war, I mean. It's in Judaism, Islam, Chritianity...and it seems that someone always misses the point! I have yet to understand how the tenets of love and forgiveness merit any other bloodshed than that of christ...and even his death was political manslaughter. Argh...I feel the frustration in this piece and appreciate the honesty.

Hats off, I will buy you a drink. Just come to North Carolina and you can name your poison. Marx was wrong when he said that reliegon was the opiate of the people. It is their justification for allowing their worst natures to prevail. We should never have allowed that male god to hang aroung with his guys. We were just too nice and now see where it has gotten us. Cool Yule.
