    Description:
I don't know the author of the Christmas carol I quoted so I can't properly give credit. I can only put in quotation marks.

My Christmas Prayer of course is for Peace on Earth in the Macro and Micro.

"I heard the bells on Christmas Day
    Their old familiar carols play."

Dear God, I'm face down in the mud
And it tastes of death and blood.

Dear God, I want to see my wife
I promised her a decent life.

    Dear God, I'm only twenty-one
Till now I never held a gun.

Dear God, I want to see my mother.
I want to hold my sisters and brother.

Dear God, could you just stop the pain,
And my feet from rotting in wet boots and rain?

Dear God, could you just stop the thirst,
The sand that blows, but the sun's the worst?

Dear God, please don't let me die.
I'll shoot my foot and tell a lie.

Dear God, please don't make me kill
Even if they say "Thy Will".

"And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to man."

the soldier thing... it may not be what your poem is after but it's like the have a sense of duty to be done regardless of what time of the year it is... if it's to kill... it's to kill. all they can do is pray for god that the war ends before they hear "fire at will" it came to me with the "shoot my foot and tell a lie" - i liked that one.

and the band aid song, it ldoesn't really have much of a connection with the piece in terms of meaning but... i think that's what this piece is trying to touch in the form of an undertone... like a person reads this piece while having christmas dinner or as we say "noche buena" and then suddenly read this piece... at least there would be a sense that tells them to offer a moment of silence for those who suffer on christmas eve.

sorry if i was vague with my previous comment.

anyway, like i said, this piece is good.

the soldier feel... probably... also gives a sense of the band aid song... something about you having "jolly good time" while people ouutside are dying.

    anyway, nice piece.
    merry christmas

peace on earth; a piece of poet-tree. Even though once in a while it drops a-corny line or two on ocassion, there are none here. I am in awe; infatuation, The rhythm flows without hesitation. Do you perform? this piece should be heard; i instinctually read it aloud. So glad I did because now I'm like a little kid; on christmas day, trying to wake his parents so they can begin opening presents. I hear your prayer for peace and this piece will spread speaking for those who's blood runs red on the soil from toilsome days in the desert. Peace be with you.
