    Meek benightedness keeps them alive,
Without valor or pride to useless goals they strive.
    Not troubled by indignant ends
    Nor thoughtless spends
    Or untidy mends,
The masses follow this shepherd that will always mislead,
Patriotic corruption sends sons to war, to die and bleed.
Men are mind washed, they think they have the answer,
Their president following folly, general no geomancer.
To think 'Tin soldiers and Nixon's comin''
Who the hell would vote for a republican?
Now we're in for it, four years of hell,
How many will die, it's pointless to tell.
The generations are disinterested, too caught up in sports,
Distractions like drama and comedy and courts,
Will keep them from realizing the corrupt electorals,
They've got better things to do than consider their morals.
Oh Canada, Oh Canada, our home and native land,
Rather be their than in Iraq, blood sifting to the sand.
Support out troops and support our brothers,
Grieve with our fathers and weep with our mothers.
    Draft cards will be burning,
    But children won't be learning.
As they play with GI Joe's,
    Killing ruthlessly any foes.
The American hero, they want to be,
To fight for the US! To keep us all free!
Free to be bullies, free to kill speech, free to amend the doctrines of life,
Free to live lives full of sorrow, depression, malice and strife.
Like the Yin Yang there's good and bad,
So what's it mean to bomb Baghdad?
Afghanistan is where we had enemies,
Actions were as right wing as the Dead Kennedy's.
Cause' 'Johnny's in the basement mixin' up the medicine,'
And while the US resorts to nuclear warfare, since we have about 26 thousand more nucs than any other nuclear armed country, I'll be on the pavement. 'Thinkin' bout' the government.'

Sheesh. Don't you even see the little quotey things around it?! Aye, anyone who would be interested in a political poem like this would know Bob Dylan enough to recognize the lyrics with the quotes around them. -eye roll- Peace to myself. -me

Man alive you could at leat give credit to Bob Dylan for coming up with the best lines in your poem. What do you think the description box is for? I saw the reference to The Dead Kennedy's and wonder how many other bands have influenced this writing.

About the poem itself? Sorry when I saw Dylan's "Subteranean Homesick Blues" twisted into your poem and no credit given it kind of turned me off.

I really enjoyed reading this. For me you hit the nail on the head as this is just how I feel. I love the line "'Johnny's in the basement mixin' up the medicine,'" and the way you change the speed to make sure the rhymes match up.
    Nicely written
