This morning I made a terrible mistake,
after my fifth cup of coffee, I should have been awake.
I don't know what happened, perhaps I forgot,
for whatever reason, I made another pot.
I couldn't let it go to waste, pour it down the drain,
looking back on it all now, I must have been insane!
Two pots of coffee, it was running through my veins,
I couldn't sit still, I'd the energy of two trains.
I needed to go out, I needed to run,
to run, and run, beneath the red sun.
I've never been so hyper before, I don't think,
...Except for that incident with the kitchen sink.
I started to move, faster and faster,
if I didn't stop soon, it would end in disaster.
Around the block I ran, once then twice,
I've always hated rhyming twice with thrice.
Four times, then five, I was starting to tire,
I saw a shop sign and knew where to retire.
Into 'Starbucks' I walked, a mad look in my eye,
I'm usually quiet, but with coffee I'm not shy.
To the counter I went, to demand the stronges they had,
I was given a double espresso, it didn't taste bad,
after my very first sip, I knew it was good,
it pumed me up even more than coffee could.
After my drink I went to continue my trip,
from my espresso to-go I took a large sip.
Finishing quickly, I disposed of my cup,
as my pace steadily began to speed up.
I knew exactly where to run this time,
along the way I passed a street mime.
To the other side of town I ran,
good thing it was summer, I could work on my tan.
The specialty store is where I could be seen,
stocking up on the powerful chocolate covered coffee bean.
"Just one box", I tried to promist myself,
I'd already polished of two and taken three more from the shelf!
How could I stop, to coffee I can't say "no",
a solution to my dilema I just didn't know.
It was starting to get late, I headed for home,
but not before force feeding a bean to someone's garden gnome.
I finally arrived, and started to think,
that during the day I'd had too much coffee to drink! |
