    Description:
I thought this up after almost an hour of reading some of the comedy poems on the site, and wanted to continue my funny 'coffee' theme. It's kind of like 'twas the night before christmas' Let me know what you think!

    dotsToo Much Coffeedots
    -------------------------------------------

This morning I made a terrible mistake,
after my fifth cup of coffee, I should have been awake.
I don't know what happened, perhaps I forgot,
for whatever reason, I made another pot.
I couldn't let it go to waste, pour it down the drain,
looking back on it all now, I must have been insane!

Two pots of coffee, it was running through my veins,
I couldn't sit still, I'd the energy of two trains.
I needed to go out, I needed to run,
to run, and run, beneath the red sun.
I've never been so hyper before, I don't think,
...Except for that incident with the kitchen sink.

I started to move, faster and faster,
if I didn't stop soon, it would end in disaster.
Around the block I ran, once then twice,
I've always hated rhyming twice with thrice.
Four times, then five, I was starting to tire,
I saw a shop sign and knew where to retire.

Into 'Starbucks' I walked, a mad look in my eye,
I'm usually quiet, but with coffee I'm not shy.
To the counter I went, to demand the stronges they had,
I was given a double espresso, it didn't taste bad,
after my very first sip, I knew it was good,
it pumed me up even more than coffee could.

After my drink I went to continue my trip,
from my espresso to-go I took a large sip.
Finishing quickly, I disposed of my cup,
as my pace steadily began to speed up.
I knew exactly where to run this time,
along the way I passed a street mime.

To the other side of town I ran,
good thing it was summer, I could work on my tan.
The specialty store is where I could be seen,
stocking up on the powerful chocolate covered coffee bean.
"Just one box", I tried to promist myself,
I'd already polished of two and taken three more from the shelf!

How could I stop, to coffee I can't say "no",
a solution to my dilema I just didn't know.
It was starting to get late, I headed for home,
but not before force feeding a bean to someone's garden gnome.
I finally arrived, and started to think,
that during the day I'd had too much coffee to drink!

No, no. Never too much coffee, well, okay maybe but still. This is great, although there are some spelling errors, but they're a quick find if you read back through. My fav part is about the gnome, it's great. Thanks for the laughs.
    Wonderful write.

Awesome! I was actually laughing out loud when you were force feeding the gnome, it hit to close to home. Coffee is my down fall! When you hit the point where you can even hold your cup still you should probably stop. I was getting so tired of reading depressing poems, even though it is all I can seem to write, reading this brightened up my day. I am going to have to tell a couple of my coffee addicted buddies to read this. I'm off to read your next one.

Whoo! That's a lotta coffee for one day! It surely is easy to overdo it; before you know it you end up settin' on ready and rockin' on go. ;)
You've done a good job getting the over-caffinated feel across in this piece, and the humor is terrific.
    Thanks for the smile. :)

I just like a good hearted comic piece and this was a fun one. O the good old days when I was able to throw it down without much of a care. Now I have to dole out my favorite nector in measured doses or this old body revolts. Except for a few misspells( you might want to fix those ) you did a nice job on this and I enjoyed the read alot. dmm

that was probably the most amusing story in poem form i have read in 5 years. were you just on a buzz when you wrote these two poems, or were you just working off of past experience?

your poem is eerily similar to my experience at starbuck's yesterday afternoon.i had 4 iced cafe americanos which each have 4 shots of espresso and by the time i got to my bank i started to have some minor problems such as trembling hands and such.as well, the previous time i was at starbucks,i went in to order my fifth coffee which i have previously described and one of the flunky [censored]es that was working there said that i was crazy.i should have called the manager and made a complaint but i just let it go and resolved never to frequent that outlet ever again.it certainly seems,as far as your poem is concerned, that you over did it too.good luck and fare well.
