Description: I saw this NOVA episode about Zoque (pronounced Zoe-key) an ancient Meso-American tribe and it inspired me to write this free verse poem. I normally write rhyming verse, but this didn't seem a proper subject for rhyme.
Native america is something that interests me very much, I havent heard of this tribe before. I think a rhyme sceme would have benifited this peice greatly because of the couplet form in which you chose to write it. I think greater imagry is needed to make this more than a document, to make it your impression of the sacrifice. The poem is good, it is alwas nice to see some one writting about a topic that I'm curious about.
Gosh...it's pretty disgusting...i mean the drinking blood and those stuff...The poem's clear, and this helps create a good visualization in a reader... So I guess it's good in terms of the techniques of your poem...and not really that big fan of your content (that 'bloody' part of it) if u get what i mean hahha...good job though for enlightening me..
I was intriuged by the title of it. This was a compelling story of sacrifice and not the type that is often written about. A very unique poem. Excellent imagery and great use of words to weave a story in a rhyme. Excellent job.
