The noose around his neck felt tight,
gasping, panting, he tried to breathe.
The rope pulled tighter against his throat.
Nobody wanted to free him from bondage.
Freedom, unreacdhable, sat ten feet away,
where a man lazily sat in his comfortable chair,
relaxing, taking a sip of his ice cold beer,
unwilling to grant freedom to someone who's 'different'.
The rope starts to burn, rubbing raw flesh.
The smeltering heat and unbearable sun,
no water to comfort a dried throat,
no food to pacify a rumbling stomach.
The hours grew longer, days turned to nights,
the days painstakingly took their time turning to weeks.
It felt like forever he'd been tied up like this,
all because he wasn't the same, he's 'different',
And now, I must ask you, as much as it hurts,
Is this the treatment that a dog deserves? |
