Description: I wrote this out of anger. Seeing how my african american brothers and sisters live nowadays is sickening..But i understand..They are lost.
The men rely on the women now, and the women rely on thier selves..
The children now have no direction and true purpose, they are left to fend for themselves.
Its got to stop.
Awaken Africa -------------------------------------------
Awaken Africa
Reclaim your land
Reclaim your child
Reclaim your hand
Awaken and reclaim your time
Correction is Now
Would it be wrong to war??
Would it be unjust??
Justice did not work for our mothers who were battered
Justice did not work for our children who suffer from hunger pains
Justice did not show its face when our blood, sweat and tears poured from our veins
for their peoples gains
Rape was performed on our own soil.
Does anybody know where the word picnic comes from...???
Large feasts with song and dance
while lifeless bodies hung from our mother natures limb
They fed us food fit for pigs, while they ate luxury.
Although our stomachs, mind and souls became ill
We adapted for survival
The men became dependant
The women now independent
The children are confused
true its time for correction ,, and time to move in the right direction of taking destiny into our own hands... as a black woman i dont know if i see how we are independent while the men have become dependent....... true that the black man has a lot more to fight against but why is he one that we have to fight too? why not fight together to make it and help eachother be strong?
Viva 4women becoming independant! How could we possibly stand together as an african nation when it is our own brothers that have become corrupt - raping their own sisters - wheres the justice now??? I thought it was an excellent poem it really got evoked emotions in me. P.s what with da "picnic" - let me know sometime
brilliant. no one will give us back our former glory. we'll have to take it back.the time has come for us to make ourselves known as more than former-slaves and basketball players. correction is imminent we must takes the proper steps in the proper direction. it won't be quick or easy, but its coming.
It is definitely time for correction. The black community is asleep everywhere. Some of us are at work and sleeping. We hear the preacher's preach but we sleep on it. WE sleep on advice. We close our eyes to drug deals on our street corners. Let me stop preaching. Your poem is a sermon by itself. Awaken Africa! Now! Right Now!
