Momma sees me as her baby girl,
like she needs to protect me from the world.
Protect the world from me
is the way it should be.
Brother see me as the little sister
he carried piggy back because of a blister.
A few years back, I blacked his eye,
at 6'2, 230 pounds he's no small guy.
Kids see me as their mother,
sometimes friend or maid, sometimes as other.
I love Pooh, Bubba, Sister, and Lil' Man with all my heart,
if they ever got hurt, it would tear me apart.
Husband sees me as wife,
his confidante, friend, and the love of his life.
After all is quiet at night, wrapped up in our covers,
he reaches out to hold and caress his lover.
Kids and husband both see me as a talking dictionary,
more convienant then the one you have to carry.
Do I have the word "sucker" printed on my forhead?
Do they not know a dictionary is to be read?
Friends see me as a rock,
a good listener when they need to talk.
If they need it, they can have the shirt off of my back,
or use my couch for a place to hit the sack.
Boss sees me as a good employee,
even though my talents aren't free.
My register is never short and everything is kept clean,
he never has to worry, he knows I'm on his money making team.
Customers see me as their attentive bar maid,
their nurse, as long as for their drinks I get paid.
They sometimes call me all sorts of dirty names,
especially when I take their drinks and pour them down the drain.
No one ever said that life was fair or just,
but behind the bar, I'm the boss, so don't make a fuss!
At night, when sleep finally claims my body and mind,
I leave all my stress and worries behind.
I become a lovely tiny faery enjoying the sun as I fly,
my small delicate wings flutter, shimmer and shine.
As the sun glistens off my wings, you can see many vibrant colors,
my laughter is like tinkling bells in the air as I twirl and whirl.
All too soon my alarm begins to beep and I am once again human,
husband rolls out of bed saying, "Rise and shine, woman."
I lay there thinking, to many I am more then I seem to be,
this should fill me with glee.
There is much I think I must attempt to do,
I have done a lot for my crew.
I know things will continue on even after I die,
but I can't help asking, "Who am I?" |
