Description: Someone suggested there should be a contest based around writing a poem about an inaminiate object. Why make it a contest? Everything has spirit, and as a concenquence of that, everything is a worthy subject for poetry. Sometimes the simpelist things can invoke the deepest responses. My favorite poem is a Haiku by a Japanese Master named Basho, and it goes;
Day after day
on the Monkeys face
a monkey face
THis speaks to me more than any love poem I've every read, and no anger or agnst can tarnish the truth of what this poem conveys (Basho's not mine:).
Tea -------------------------------------------
I have a can of
green tea called
Gu Zhang Mao Jian
or
Sky Between the Branches
And when you drink it
and the smell hits you right
it makes perfect sense
I loved this - I'm sitting at work, looking out the window, and I can see the sky between the branches of the trees, which brought me back to thinking of the warmth and peace and simple pleasure evoked by having 'a cup of tea'. Inspired by something ordinary this is true, an ordinary piece? Perhaps in its concept, but in its execution it is exquisite and elegant. One of those pieces that really does make my day to read it.
Interesting...I'm kind of having a hard time understanding this one, but that doesnt mean its bad. MAybe your overestimating the insightfulness of your readers
