    Description:
Catcher in the rye.. by jd salinger...anybody read the book?..... well i love the book and somehow i can relate... this piece is kinda about how there can actually be very little purpose in what one is doing at a certain time..life,career,etc and the really simple things in life things that are mundane could make so much more sense...and being like the catcher in the rye..someone who spends all his life doing nothing but stopping people from falling off the edge of a field of rye...actually would make as much sense if not more than being an engineer or a doctor.....if not more.

    -------------------------------------------

I am the king of my land
And i am still a grain of sand
so i will not believe a lie
I'd rather be the catcher in the rye

In some daydream that has no end
A dream thats broken and will not mend
Will not remember what i thought
Can never know what i sought

I see purpose in the clouds
That which i cannot see in crowds
Of people who find it mundane
To stand in the pouring rain
And the leaves that are shed
    And land upon your head
To run after them all day long
Catching leaf listening to autumn song

Find myself in a thousand places
See my reflection see a million faces
All that will ever bring me joy
Is the musing of a wandering boy
Lost in an abyss of identity
    Mistake life for reality
For there is more and more is in the less
little things one would never guess.

well you know... i just bought the catcher in the rye this afternoon when i was in town.. ive been looking for it for ages (though i wanted a second hand copy coz i love reading books other ppl have read... they seem to have class LOL!) but i just got it from the book shop coz i couldnt be bothered looking anymore so at this stage i have not read it...

personally i think the use of rhyme in this write kinda trivialised your point... made a serious idea seem light and bouncy and i think it kinda ruined it somewhat.

i liked the individualistic 'i wil not believe the lie i will not be who they want me to be i will not be a clone' feel this write has and i think there are plenty more poems that could come from this one...

i shall read catcher in the rye and get back to you on my thoughts... see ya then...

I'm not familiar with "Catcher in the Rye" but I do like this poem. To enjoy the simle things in life is something most of us can't find the time to do.. And to me, those are the most treasured moments. To stand in the pouring rain.. play in a pile of leaves, sing an autumn song..etc.. Simple but powerful things that can elate the heart..Yet most cast them aside as a nusance (I've been known to do that myself at times and that's a shame). As you stated: "For there is more and more is in the less"

Well done here. An enjoyable read.

    Take Care!

i really thought this was an interesting piece. i like poems where people are inspired by something that most take forgranted. the book that you refer to is one of the most inspiring pieces of literature that i have ever read. Its nice to see someone take it for a deeper meaning.
