Description: I'm fighting my dry spell with being playful. This is a brat act because I haven't been to confident about my writing lately. I figured that since my words kick my ass most of the time, I might as well use that to my advantage. I'm using the word "literally" sarcastically too.
Hey, I kind of like this.
My Words Literally Kick Ass -------------------------------------------
My words pound yours into nonsense.
Each term breaking up into letters,
standing in a line
that becomes a surrounding circle
when yours approach.
My V stabs your O deflating it.
My X does cartwheels
knocking your too tall T to the pavement.
A D shoots an A like an arrow
removing the top story of your H,
and the lowercase characters
tackle each other in a manic pile.
Fat b's break skinny l's
z's and k's use their points like blades
to cut their enemies
who start calling for their mommies.
Though my words were few
at beginning and end,
they've always been fearless and fierce.
They come back together
with only a stroke or two out of place
while you do first aid
on your battered poem.
a great poet's poem...and when in a dry spell, yes we do ourselves well to write about writing...and the battle that rages within to get something on paper.
actually i related to this in an odd way...besides the writing fights which is an ingenius play on words by you...
this reminded me of when i was in high school...and had a cast party at my house for the school play "unsinkable molly brown"--
i had a very pretty , but mouthy girlfriend....we and two other couples took a walk around the block....a carload of greasers drove by and she yelled at them...for several moments..they came back around the block, got out and followed us..then 6 of them proceeded to beat the crap out of me...while the other two guys we were with watched...it hurt a bit...but was pretty funny a month later..i was standing in line at our Hot Dog stand...and one of them was right next to me...lol
he looked up at me and said "hello" and i could tell he was really nervous, since his 5 buddies weren't with him...besides that smile..my girlfriend was really attentive the rest of the night at the party...holding a cold compress to my black eye...i didn't mind the attention..
so your poem made me chuckle..i thought about 5 or 6 letters beating up another...and the poem in general being full of rumbles...
Well, with a title like this, how could I NOT look? Haha, I'm a sucker for something quirky and original and I think you pulled it off fabulously, judging by the amount of comments you've received with this little gem.
I love how you give letters these physical characteristics... it was like a cartoon in my head as what you described happened.
I don't know what to say. I just found it really entertaining and interesting to read. A very comic and visually exciting poem to take in and giggle about.
Yes, I LOVE fearless & fierce! Cool visual poem. This poem is the swaggering flourishing type I like. Have you read PI by Diane Ackerman? This reminds me of that-a very creative way to think of numbers/letters-yours is more kinetic.
Ahhh, when i read stuff like this this it makes me sad that i have been away so long! I am sure to miss some really great writes. But this was such fun, and your expected Amy kinkiness went way beyond what I recall seing from you previously.
I hate to sound pretentious, but this is really "darling". The way you gave "attitude" to certain letters, and illustrated thewir manic behaviours is just super. So original-so YOU and just a delightful read.
This was funny:) I enjoyed it very much! I have never read anything quite like it. It inspired me to use my Imagination more and come up with wilder ideas. Thank you! And I hope you never come up short on the thinking part of town.
You sound like a malicious english teacher who gets pleasure out of sending kid's work sailing down in billows of smaoke -lol. Puffed up arrogance never sounded so good -lol. I liked it though, a pleasant and unexpected change from we usually find here as we surf around lazily. Usually I hate poetry about the physical aspects of typography, usually because they take them selves so seriously and sound like class exercises for postmodernists. The humor here made it delightful though.
I stand in awe of your Jedi Like wordsmithery... this one was sooo much fun. Too cool for school my friend. Absolutely amazing! THANKS for sharing it with us you ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCK!
this makes me think of a friend of mine who used to draw pictures of letters in their various states, kicking each other's arse as it were... very entertaining and sassy this is. made me think of a karate showdown with letters.. well done! great way to come kicking and screaming out of writer's block..!
Hey! This kicks ass! :) I loved it! :) I read it when you first posted it but forgot about it until now. :) It's so cute. This would be neat with pictures drawn with it. Like a children's poem book without the a word of course. hehe I really enjoyed it! Your words sure did kick mine that's for sure! I'm speechless! -blt
This is pure fun and the bravado is so unlike you that it is almost ironic. But you prove yourself right by being so creative and clever. Great images are created of letters fighting it out like a WWF wrestling match, and the macho trash-talking to boot. I actually feel inspired to write after reading this...I want my words to kick ass too!
Amy- this is a gutsy, saucey work. How original. Great way to stare that writer's block in the face and take it down with all you got. If this came from writer's block, you should have it at least once a week.
"Though my words were few At beginning and end They’ve always been fearless and fierce They come back together With only a stroke or two out of place While you do first aid On your battered poem "
Amy, my artiste, I love this and I can see it. Each line seems to have such a fine graphic iimpact of its own I think I would suggest making a drawing of this poem. I can picture how it would look as you've written in, but to have it laid out would be very much like cartoon. Cool, comical, conclusive, collisions of word works.... just as it is. Collossal! It was a great idea and you did it well. Hugs and peachcobbler a' la mode Nan
This was really well done and very creative. I don't think I have seen such vanity in a poem before...lol... To tel you the true this was a fun thing to read. The use of the diffrent letters and how they crush others was amazing.
LOL. Your words have ATTITUDE! The whole thing's so cute. I can imagine little letter-warriors all dressed in feathered headgear - I don't know why! - racing around and battering the other poem. LOL. Fearless and fierce indeed! :)
A unique and interesting way of using letters. I liked this, although I wasn't quite sure if it was a vengeful type of piece, or more of a 'how do you like me now' kind of piece. But either or, I enjoyed the flow as well as structure. Good write!
