Description: After surviving the Gunboat attack. Proton finds himself in quite a pickle. To leave his hiding place and gain acess to the Gunboat would mean certain death.
Or dose it....
Ground zero -------------------------------------------
Proton's vision was blurry, his head was spinning and when he moved intense pain surged through his body.
The last few events were nonexistent to him memory wise.
Proton looked around to see where he was. He could see that he was lying facedown in a pool of his own blood.
As his vision came into focus he could make out that he was in a hole.
Proton stirred, causing him disoriented and lots pain. He tried to sit up but did it too quickly and blacked out a gain.
The sound of an open channel on his COMM crackled loudly filling the tiny cave he was in.
Having a direct line of site Proton looked outside. The ground was smoldering from the laser fire.
Where once a forest stood now laid the charred remains of burned up trees and melted rocks.
Thinking the coast was clear Proton slowly crept forward.
For some strange reason that he felt a little naked crouched forward he realized that the top of his rocket pack had been cut off.
Further more whatever removed the top of his pack melted the rest of his pack to his back. Realizing that any sudden move might cause him to blackout he was thinking about how he was going to complete his objective.
Proton crept towards the opening when the static charged COMM came to life.
"Proton! Don't go out side the cave. I will be there to provide cover fire."
Proton thought for a second then looked to see a small mouse like creature run out from one of the nearby holes. A laser blast could be heard and the mouse like creature was reduced to smoldering heap.
"I see your point."
"I am on my way. "
"Asuka how did you?" Proton was about to ask but then he remembered who he was talking to and decided better.
"Never mind how I did it. I will draw their fire."
"Are you sure that's a good idea considering...Ē
"Yea, piece of cake. Your job however isn't going to be easy."
"Well, youíre the man. Show a little back bone and get on that gunboat."
"Are you crazy!?"
"Don't argue!! Leave every thing to me. You just do your task. "
"And if I don't."
"I will land this ship and personally come over there and kick your ass."
"I'd like to see you try."
"That won't be hard. How's your rocket pack?"
"Look, you need to hurry up. There is a drop ship that supplies Lemí Rok Nor." Asuka urged.
"The Cardasians are resupplying their lines via armored train that is running from Lemí Rok Nor point which isnít far from you. The drop ship leaves in 1.5 hours. So you need to hurry ok?"
"Bring it on."
"We're even by the way." Asuka not wanting him to have anything over her this especially meant with the pirate incident and nearly getting killed.
"Yea and by the time we're done you'll owe me Big Time."
Proton grunted as he moved into position.
"Behind the first rock several feet in front of the cave there is a plant that can help you. Its effects are only temporary. But it should get you through."
"A plant?" Proton began.
"Itís not my fault you can't follow instructions. You should have taken a left like I said instead of a left and diving into this hole."
"Easy for you to say you're not the one getting shot at."
"That's your job not mine. I'm the delicate flower remember youíre suppose to look out for me." Asuka always the one to bring up this point was being annoying once again as she pushed the issue.
"Yeah right." Proton was nobodyís patsy.
There was a long silence over the Comm "Lt. Colonel Jade has been trying to reach you."
Proton could visualize the emotional response of Asuka as she said those last words. They were both cold and distant like a vacation on Pluto. Fortunately for everyone on the E she would more than likely take her frustrations out on the Cardasians.
"Iíll contact her as soon as I am done here Proton out." Proton ended his communication with Asuka. "Proton to Jade do you read me? Over."
