My ex-boyfriend, a guy I truely loved is leaving to go to boot camp on the 1st of June. So, I wrote him a poem telling him how I actually feel. Basically the poem is saying that I'm happy that he's moving on and that I will always be proud of him and that I want him to continue, but I want him to come back. Girls are confusing...well that's most of what it's about but you have to read it to see...it's mapping out a journey, kind of.

    And you've never ran
    Quite so far away
    From the pain and destruction
From things you know won't stay
So, I have to hold on
    Knowing that you'll go
    Knowing that you'll leave me
And a love only you could know
    But aspirations are forever
    And hopes live on
    My heart beats every measure
    To our now, un-played song
And I know as you wander
My thoughts and dreams will follow
For no one has made me
    Feel so proud
    Though things have ended
And this hymn has lost its' lyrics
We have been left on this edge
    As friends
    And this love found here
    Only time can mend
    All the while you know
That as you go, I may not follow
Though my heart does not realize that
I knew one day that it would end
    That this tale
Would crumble like all the others
    But, just once
I thought someone would follow that path
    To trace my tears
    And find their way back
Loving you has made me stronger
Giving you my heart has made me weak
Though my heart doesn't work my mouth
I feel like it's hard to speak
    As you trudge on
    I knew all along
    That you'd walk away
    But, why then...
Does my heart scream for you to stay?

i absolutly love this pice. you describe some much of what love realy is to me that they could have been my own words. i like the way that fluidity and rhyme are lost in this poem and the way you write what you feel even though you don't say it out right to the one you love you still want him to know that you are letting go to make him happy and that you still love him even if he is leaving you. i hope that he does find his way back to you and that you end up happy. you deserve it like so many others in this world. you have felt the pangs of what war can cause.
    love and light

Hey, Great write! My boyfriend left for bootcamp a little over two years ago, but I remember that day like it was yesterday. There's nothing harder than watching someone you love turn and walk away, especially when all you want is for them to stay. It's a hopeless feeling..but all I can say is everything worked out for me...I'm with the love of my life...and I hope everything works out for you too! Great job! ~hailie~
