Lighter than what I’ve known,
And all I have seen before
Reflected in a pool of memories
I swim in every now and then.
Enlightenment comes with a price:
A sacrifice of all previous knowledge.
Everything you believed to be true:
Vanished and gone forever.
It takes time to adjust
To the new universe that has formed
As a result of having seen
What has forever been true.
The truth is so strange to you;
You banish it from your mind,
And remain in your formal world:
Forever believing you never saw it.
Your inner-blindness takes control
Until you’ve convinced yourself
That you were never exposed
To the trauma of the real world.
