    dotsShe is Misseddots
    -------------------------------------------

    She is missed.

She was the backbone of the family
    Her arms were a shell
    where I would retreat.
I was soft like a snail,
But as prickly as a hedgehog
    And sometimes I would bite
And she would bark at me.

    She is missed.

She was the heart of our home
    Her smile was sunshine
and could melt my icy demeanor,
Even when I was truly hot-headed
(Although I thought I was cool)
Sometimes I would purposely burn her
And sparks would fly between us.

    She is missed.

She was a fountain of useful knowledge
And she led this horse to water
Though I stubbornly refused to drink
    Something obviously sunk in.
I spouted such shit in those days
But still she showered me with kisses
And poured on me, her love.

    She is missed.

She was my nan, she was my mother.
I took for granted what she gave
And never valued what she taught
Until the day she was no longer.
Only then did her words linger in my ears
And her love speak volumes to me
Only then did this fool listen.

And now she is sorely missed.

Aw, this is sweet and sad. My paternal grandmother died about ten years ago, and I'm still not over it. She was one of the few people I could really tell how I felt sometimes because she would give it to me straight that I was acting like an idiot or needed to grow up or whatever. I took her for granted, and we butted heads too, so this really sounds like me. I like the images of animals for anger and strength and the hot/ cool imagery.
