Mirrors can lie.

Looking at the mirror, and what do I see?
Is what's seen the same as is seen by thee?
A reflection I see, you see what is true,
Or is what you see, what I show to you?
Do I see myself as I really am --
The ravenous wolf, while you see the lamb?
I comb and primp and make me as you want,
The desire to be myself shall forever be a taunt.
Or do you see me as I really am --
The ravenous wolf, while I see the lamb?
I know what I want, and that's what I see,
The ideal of myself and not reality.
But the reflection in a mirror is reversed and not true,
The better one I see, is the one of me in you.
Or do you play my game and fix your face,
And only a shell of myself stands in your place?

Ravenous wolf, gentle lamb,
The question remains of who I am.

  Ravenous wolf, innocent lamb.

I think the distinct mirror aspects of this is perhaps what enhances this most. Yin and yang is often a concept we all share but few ever face that part of themselves. There is much dark to our light.

Gasps. Whew. I am glad mirrors tell lies. And they are fake.
But the thing is when you are around your friends, you act differant than you would just around one person. I think when you are just one on one you can show more of your personality.. If ya know what I mean.

I like this a lot..

This is a really good poem! You capture the mirror "images" perfectly! Very thought provoking, I read this one a couple times. I like the inner conflict with the reflection in the mirror. It is full of mystery and intrique! All around great poem! Take care.

This is rockin! For lack of a better word...and I'm a poet, as if...but anyways, this really rocked! I loved the reference to the lamb, and the wolf, and about how you wanted to see what he saw in you, and I thought that it was very beautifully written, and I'm adding this poem to my favorites, and I have to say that you have to be the lamb if you can write poetry such as this, because this is really good, though hard-hitting. Maybe you are both, because you can be, you know? Anyways, this was like so good.
Peace and love,

I really like this piece. I can see how much time was added to this poem. It is amazing...just everything about it. The whole topic was very unique. I like how it flowed also. I'm just totally in awe right now. This is a definite favorite.
~great job~

Ooo I love this! Every word is amazing. I have nothing negative to say. I especially like the end:

"Ravenous wolf, gentle lamb,
The question remains of who I am."

I think most of us are left with that question. It's like I once heard a song say, sometimes "knowing nothing is better than knowing at all." Maybe it's true. I don't know... I'm falling asleep. Anywho, great job :-)

Yes indeed! There is another side to everyone. Some people won't admit that, but it's true. I like the way you describe one way wolf. The other a lamb. One meek one strong willed. I like. "I know what I want, and that"s what I see." The "ideal of myself and not reality" Good strong wording. Mirrors tell a tale of two. Great job!...wanda

Flipping amazing, I'm adding this to my favorites. I can tell you put a great deal of effort into this poem. It's original, and it's structured perfectly.

A reflection I see, you see what is true,
Or is what you see, what I show to you?

Sold the poem to me. Maybe you could add more "ideas" to the poem to, to make it even more powerful than it already is, but that's not really necessary at all, I just don't like giving comments without giving advice lol. Adding this to my favorites :) 5/5
