As I stood staring at the sky,
I began to see,
That life is only as good as we make it.
We can choose to fall in love,
Or you can choose to lie in wait
For something that may never come.
We can choose to speak out,
Or we can choose to be quiet ,
And do as everyone else has done.
We can sit and listen,
Instead of speaking out,
We can be silenced by the pressures of those around us,
Or we can be hated for our minds.
A man can stand and speak out and they call him a genius,
But if a woman speaks out they call her a fool.
A man can stand and fight and die for what he believes in,
But a woman must stay where it is safe.
And why may I ask must the women stay behind,
And sit in wait for their boys to come home.
Why may I ask is a man’s life less valued than a women’s?
Or is it that men have more honor in death than women?
Why is it that people believe a women is not capable of doing the same thing as a man?
As I stood staring at the sky
With these thoughts rushing through my mind,
I began to feel a surge of white hot rage course through my mind and my very blood.
I began to shake with rage,
The heat of my anger gave me strength,
It strengthens me to do as I please
And to see that women are the black man of a new age and era.
