one Cruel Gift -------------------------------------------
Imagination
is a cruel gift
buliding
small possibilities
into only options
feeding feelings
where they dont
belong
making it
intolerable
to exist so far
from what we desire
helplessly
standing outside
the solid frames
of true love
living in the much
bigger picture
of lonely abandonment
again you find youself
sadly swept up in the moments
of a costumed classical movie
sappy and fake
but the romance of it all
strikes
suddenly violent
defense mechanisms fail
and you find yourself
taking the leap to insanity
trying to create your own fairytale.
caught up in a struggle
wanting to break out
of a shell you once hid behind
mistakes can multiply
with unsaid words
unseen actions
moving on
tearing relationships
into shreds of experience
every time
sometimes
loves like trying
to run along the beach
slow and demanding
by the time
you've reached the water
all you are is sand
This was definitly interesting. I like the unconventional stanza's that flow very well together. It shows the cruelty of the imagination and imagined feelings. Nicely written. Ciao.
This is intriguingly beautiful, I understand what you mean, the imagination can worsen pain and heartache, creating something that would probably never come true and persuading you to hope and believe, and you’re left helpless because it’s a part of you…very insightful, I love this, its astonishing, bravo. Sincerely Deserted
I liked this alot. I gather you are saying it's cruel to have imangination because it creates a feeling of impossibility, until you try and fail, and realize that things always seem perfect in your minds eye. And you get frustrated because you can't duplicate what you see and want. And movies and such aid to this cruelty...am I close? This was a very good poem. I have never read a poem that consider imangination is a bad thing. Interesting. Well written. Good job. Maggie
