Vertra ran into the darkness disappearing from the wolf girl’s sight. Ducking under a tree Vertra grabbed her chest and caught her breath.
“That was a close one” Vertra said panting. She sat there leaning against the tree for a few moments then figured to find shelter for the night.
“I’m hungry” Vertra said out loud hearing her stomach and decided to find food for herself. She sat up and stretched her arms out and set to find a meal. About five minutes later Vertra stumbled upon two little rodents and picked them up.
“Aren‘t you two just cute” she said to them. They looked up at her and began to move about in her hands. Vertra continued walking still holding the two rodents and found an abandoned truck along the way.
“At least its shelter” she said to them. She climbed into the truck and sat in the passenger seat. She looked around trying to find where to put the mice.
“Where oh where” she said to them and then looked down at her stomach hearing it growl.
“I’m sorry you two I need to eat.” She said looking sadly at them. She squeezed them tightly until their guts splurged into her hands. She licked the blood off her fingers and ate their bodies.
“Tasty yet satisfying” she said licking the last drops of blood off her fingers.
Vertra tossed the bones of the mice out the door and heard them plop on the ground a little ways off.
“Alone again” Vertra said sadly. Vertra rested her head against the chair and fell into a deep silent sleep for the night.
A few hours later she awoke suddenly craving human blood.
“What what’s wrong with me” Vertra said holding her stomach in pain. Pearl white fangs grew from her mouth, sharp claws grew from her fingers, and her eyes grew fierce red.
“AHHH” Vertra screamed in pain and shot off into the dark night. Vertra went to where she last saw the wolf girl and knew that the girl had human blood in her and could smell her near by.
“Where are you” Vertra shouted and spotted the wolf girl sleeping under a tree about five yards off. Vertra charged at the girl and pounced on her and began to slash her skin and sunk her teeth deep into her neck. The girl became limp in Vertra arms and Vertra stopped. She touched her lips and looked down at the blood.
“What have I done?” Vertra exclaimed and held the girl and started crying.
“Why am I doing this; why do I want blood?” Vertra kept repeating over and over terrified but soon fell fast asleep. Vertra awoke about five hours later while the sun was still rising. Vertra continued to walk and passed the truck she was once in along the way. Vertra was alone, scared, bored, and depressed. She had nothing interesting to do and she wanted to be safe at home. Vertra started thinking about how she ended up in the woods in the first place. The last thing she could remember was telling her father she would see him in a few minutes because she needed to feed the dogs. Next thing she knew she was here stranded in these woods with human wolves.
“AHHHH” Vertra screamed crashing down on her hands and knees and a stick was plunged into the middle of her hand.
“Oh my!” Vertra said startled but realized it didn’t hurt. She pulled it out and watched it heal its self.
“Wow” Vertra said confused. A few moments later it looked like nothing had even happened. This was something unbelievable and unreal. Vertra touched her hand realizing it was okay, sat up and went along her way. She wasn’t sure why that happened but she thought it was cool.
“Kick ass” she said and began taking random objects and slicing her skin watching it real its self. For hours Vertra did this but then became bored again. She realized around here it turned dark quick. There was maybe only six hours of daylight. The sun was already setting and she also became hungry. For another thirty minutes Vertra walked going left, right, forward, and backwards and soon came upon a temple.
“What is that?” Vertra asked herself. She walked up to it and saw a doorbell and rang it. Not even five seconds later it opened and she walked in.
“HELLO” Vertra shouted seeing that no one was around. A figure who looked about six feet tall, dark hair, deep dark eyes, and long sharp teeth. He wore a long black cape like coat, heavy black pants, and heavy black boots stepped out from the shadows.
"I'm Sir Jak" Jak said to Vertra with an evil grin. "You must be Vertra; we have been waiting for you" Jak said to her holding out his hand for hers.
"How do you know my name?" Vertra said looking scared.
"I know all my victims names" Jak said to her.
"Victim?" Vertra said trying to figure out what was going on. "You don't make any sense; explain yourself."
"Well you see Vertra" Jak said pacing around her in circles. "I was passing through your town and I saw you alone and how your father just threw you out and I figured you needed a real home and care" Jak continued on. "And I figured... I need a new love and when I first saw you I was in love with you. Your grace, your eyes, your hair, your body, everything about you made me wants to melt." Jak said to her looking into her eyes.
"So you took me?" Vertra said frightened. "That’s no reason to take me away from my home. I don't even know you!" Vertra yelled at him.
"You wanted to come. You asked me to change you!" Jak screamed at her picking up a vase and throwing it against a wall. "You said you wanted love and you wanted to be what you are now. A vampire." Jak finished spitting on the floor.
"A...a…Vampire?” Vertra said shakily and fainted on the floor.
“Vertra… Vertra WAKE UP! Jak repeatedly screamed into Vertra’s ears until she finally awoke.
“Wh. What do you want!” Vertra said hastily to Jak. “Why am I still here and why are you near me!” Vertra said sliding away from him.
“You passed out” Jak replied calmly to try and ease Vertra down a bit. “ I promise I do not want to harm you. If that makes you feel any better.” Jak finished with an innocent reassuring smile.
“Well… a little” Vertra said gazing into Jak’s eyes. He has sensitive eyes; Vertra said to her self.
“Why thank you” Jak said blushing. Fore he could read her mind.
“Thank you for what?” Vertra asked him curiously. Jak giggled a bit and didn’t want to freak her out more than she already was and shook his head indicating nothing.
“O… okay then” Vertra said looking oddly at Jak finding him even stranger than before. “One question for you” Vertra told him still looking directly into his hazel blue eyes. “Got anything to eat?” Vertra said with a smile lurking on her face.
“Blood you mean?” Jak asked not sure if she had figured out she meant actual food or what.
“DUH” Vertra said nodding her head and laughing all at once.
“WELL DUH to you too” Jak said smiling gazing into her breath taking pale purple eyes. Vertra stared at him for a moment more before realizing she started falling for a vampire who changed her from what she once was and love being.
“Well where is it?” Vertra asked him.
Jak laughed, “Well I’m too lazy to hunt tonight so hold on one second,” Jak said. “LEAPORD!” Jak called out and in a flash a monstrous beast dog came out holding on to two live humans that were screaming in fear.
“HOLY CRAP!” Vertra screamed seeing whom one, which was a man who was her father. “DAD!” Vertra screamed.
“Your father?” Jak said then order Leapord to drop the man. Her father looked weak and frightened and almost dead like.
“Away with you Leapord” Jak said to the beast waving his arm to leave the room.
“Daddy” Vertra said in tears running to her father.
“NO NO” the father screamed. “DON’T HARM ME!”
“Daddy it’s me Vertra you daughter” Vertra said now by his side. “I’m not going to harm you.”
“I I don’t have a daughter” the man said backing up a bit.
“Vertra I’m sorry but your fathers memories of you were erased when you changed… he doesn’t remember you.” Jak said not meaning to hurt Vertra.
“WHAT?” Vertra said and began to grow weak. “But but” Vertra repeated over and over.
“Leave sir” Jak said to the man.
“Thank you thank you so much” and the man quickly hustled out the front door. Jak walked over to Vertra and put his arm around her. “I’m sorry you weren’t supposed to remember him. Maybe the fact that you were once human you would remember but not your father. I’m terribly sorry Vertra.” Jak said sincerely.
“You didn’t know.” Vertra said calming down a bit. “It’s okay.” Vertra said falling into Jak’s lap. Jak stroked her hair and kissed her softly on the neck. Vertra sat up and looked into Jak’s eyes and kissed him.
“Um… what was that for?” Jak asked her confused.
“I’m sorry just a little emotional that’s all” Vertra said feeling stupid.
“Its okay” Jak said smiling at Vertra and kissed her back. He stood up and scooped Vertra into his arms and took her to his room. He laid her gently on the bed and began to kiss her again. She returned the kiss pulling him on to her. Jak moved to the other side of the bed and looked into her eye and kissed her once more. He started stroking her hair once again and she fell asleep in his arms for the night.
Morning soon fell upon Vertra blinding her with rays of sunlight.
“Talk about bright” Vertra said shielding her eyes until as she walked to the curtains and shut them. “What vampire in their right mind would allow bright rays to shine through” Vertra said to herself now facing towards the bedroom door and decided to find Jak. “JAK WHERE ARE YOU!” Vertra hollered looking down the hall and crossed to a room with the door slightly cracked. Vertra peeked through and saw Jak on his knees with a helpless being lying on the floor in front of him. She watched silently for about five seconds startled with Jak’s voice.
“Enter or shut the door Vertra” and Vertra quietly entered and shut the door behind her.
“What are you doing” Vertra said kneeling beside him and watching curiously.
“A spiritual prayer so be quiet” Jak said and shut his eyes and Vertra watched in silence. It was maybe an hour before Jak finally opened his eyes and pressed his hand on the human’s chest. “still alive” Jak said furiously and stood up.
“if you want him dead stab him or something” Vertra said to Jak.
“Vertra if I stab him then the body is no good. I am trying to kill his soul not the body” Jak said pointing to the man’s body on the floor.
“why do you want a soul less body” Vertra said curiously.
“so I can enter daylight. See I need to find you a body too so we can survive in sun light and hunt then. Without a human form we will die if we step outside these walls until night falls. Understand?” Jak asked Vertra calmly.
“Most of it” Vertra said hoping Jak would get her a hot bod for a girl.
“and yes I will get you a good looking body” Jak said smiling at her.
“will I ever be able to read minds?” Vertra asked standing up and walking calmly to him. Vertra placed her right arm on Jak’s side and the other stroking his black sleek hair.
“if you want me to teach you I will” Jak said smiling devilishly at her. Vertra walked about an inch from his face and kissed him softly.
“Let’s go” Jak said to her and drug her into the night to hunt. “you go that way and don’t come back until you eat.” Jak said to her pointing right and headed left into the dark night.
Vertra stood there for a moment and then she began feeling her vampire senses tingling knowing a human life form was near by. Crouching behind bushes and swiftly moving she finally spotted a man with dark hair and about six feet tall trying to start a fire. Vertra sees a tree hovering over him and quietly made her way behind it.
“Hello?” the man said looking up from the dimly lit fire and then turned back to it. Vertra climbed up the tree and sat the watching him until she felt it was time to attack. She waited about thirty seconds and then jumped down on top of him.
“I’m sorry” Vertra whispered in his ear drowning out his screams and sank her teeth into his neck. She drank the blood softly and felt the man fall. She sucked until his body went limp and white.
The wind picked up leaves blowing in mini tornadoes surrounding around Vertra. Running from the cold winds Vertra heads back to her new home with Jak waiting for her at the front door.
