Description:

Written around the same period as 'Summon Me,' and during Mama's darkest depression phase.

Don't settle for an imbalanced life.
Let yourself be lifted up and out of this world's clutches.

Surrender

White linen to protect you from cold
Your skin young but a heart so old
Worn out at night you lay
I plead be strong, continue to pray!

Those tired eyes that don’t know what to do
That crowded mind that doesn’t have a clue
Rest tonight and let go of the burdens too heavy
Shed your problems on your pillow
For God to bury…
And surrender your all for Him to carry!

Hi. This well commented poem yet receives another. I like this poem for it speaks of rest at the end of the day. No matter the problems big or small in surrender lies the answer. Leading from the linen taking the rhythm through the resolution for the situation to Him is well done – I think. Will add to ,y favs. Take care. Joachim.

I'm not a big Christian person but I do so love the ability to relax and just forget your problems. I have always loved it when people express their feelings with a rhyme scheme. Very nice. Keep it up!

this says it all.. it reminds me a bit of the Footprints poem.. when you think you are walking alone, really He is carrying you.

i like the opening with the white linen because i can feel it against my skin and it is so comforting.

wonderful job on this.

peace,

Wow. . . a favorite, for sure. You write b e a u t i f u l l y, Suven! Sheesh, no one would have known that english [by and far] was your second language. So, dear viva, lend me some of those tips! Hah, just kidding, your secrets are your own. But anyways, 'fare thee well'..

This was good. The begnning captivated you right away, which is something I really liked. Beautiful imagery. I really liked this part best:

White linen to protect you from cold
Your skin young but a heart so old

It kind of put you into a dreamlike state of disconnection for a few seconds...ah, anyway, keep up the great work! By the way, I would really apperciate if you commented on any of my stuff. Please and thank you.

Good job.

This was boring as all [censored]. This was a waste of my time. You prefer thoughts from others and I will give them to you.
God is yourself. You are your only god, and by praying to an idol such as the one you speak of is pathetic, why would you waste your time with a crutch such as religon. You are pathetic , you are a waste of a human being. This poem is pathetic, in context. Some babbling bull [censored] about how someones life is bad. Who gives a rats ass. Get the [censored] over it and move on.
Your god is throwing up right now hearing this crap.
What ever..

welcome back to Elite. Your piece "Surrender" is nicely done. I would answer to Cyanide that no one is a god unto self since everyone comes into the world as dumb as a new born chick. If each were a god unto self then each would just appear in the world automatically and have the all of knowledge.
The only way one can be a god unto self is to realise that God,the Creator of all things , has put into all things those methods which sustain life and inebriate our very being. Yes,we are created in the image and likeness of God,that means every human. Through the use of this image and likeness we can be god-like and accomplish all wonders through belief in our abilities which are lent to us by The Creator of All. To quote from scripture:"O,you, of so little faith, know you not that if you had faith even as small as a grain of mustard seed you could tell a mountain to move and it would be moved." In this manner we are god-like in that with faith in our ability we can do all things. Yet, this does not make us God,but god-like in using the tools built into each of us to accomplish things that are written into our very nature by The Creator of All things,God.
If somone doesn't like the word "God" then one is free to choose another, but whichever word that is chosen is still the word applied to The Creator of All Things.
If Atheists do not believe in a God,then not even one single person is a God,yet with a non-belief in a God does not destroy the fact that there is a God,The Creator of All Things.
Suven7, keep up your writing perhaps one day God shall show Himself.

welcome back to Elite.

Suven7,I lost the page of your site. I clicked back onto it and I was surprised to see so many many comments by me as the same entry.
Perhaps,it is heavenly confirmation to my comments.

Oh my. That third comment you got was completly uncalled for, and then the one that was repeated 17 times(I think it was 17) was a little much as well. So I hope that you ignore the third commenter, I am not catholic/christian. I have my own belifs. I believe if a person lives with love in their heart, (understanding, compassion...) it does not matter what their religion, spirituality, path...is, becauce, god, the all, the one...whatever you'd like to call this divine presence, is ultimatly ONE, no matter how many faces are shown.

Now as far as your poem, it was good, to me it speaks of something really serious (maybe almst tragick), I can feel the anxiety of not knowing what to do next.(and maybe it's because I can relate right now to the anxiety) Of being in such a bad situation, when all there is to do is wait it out (wait out the pain, the frastruation, the uncertainty, whatever it may be) and while waiting pray. so praying does make sense. And it's what a lot of people do at such timeas in their lives.

So take care, and ignore all the people that are too closed minded to actually look beyond themselves.

I find this intriguing, but sadly short. I wish you would've expanded on this one..it's really good.

"Your skin young but a heart so old"
I think w/ religious matters it would be fitting to have it the other way around.
"Your skin aged but a heart so young"

I like this poem for its shortness and the ideal of surrendering to God-sometimes that's the only thing you can do...
good job on this one
take care
-stacey-
something like that.
It makes me feel that though no matter how old she really is, in the inside her heart is as faithful as ever, as young and vital than before.

Wait, do mean to say that she has lost her faith and that is why she has an old heart...wait let me read the descripton again

Okay, did she lose her faith?
If so then keep the sentence of skin being young...it would be fitting. {sorry}

Wow, and I thought your ration was quite impressive, then I saw the truth. Ahh, either way, I do like this write. You have passed on a great message. Pray, to the lord before you lay your head to rest at night for he will carry your troubles while you rest. Good job !

Phew-wore out my mouse scrolling down...lol
Anways, I really like this poem! But I had to read it twice before I could comment...
Then, when I read the first verse, I had a picture in my mind of a distraught woman lying in a bed, covered with pure white sheets, and her daughter by her side, begging her to turn to God for a healing of her heart...

The part "Rest tonight and let go of the burdens too heavy
Shed your problems on your pillow for God to bury...
And surrender your all for Him to carry!

says to me, that the daughter is telling her mother not to worry and to rest. Cry tears into your pillow, and God will take your pain. And the last line says to me something that I learned in Sunday School as a child - Lay all of your cares at Calgary - in other words, ask God to carry your cross (burden) because you are too weak to carry on, and His promise to us was that He would do that if we asked him to.
I know this wasn't much help to you as far as structure or anything, but it is just my personal view of your poem - nothing less and nothing more...it touched my heart to think of a daughter trying to comfort her mother at a time of great depression. To me, it was full of love and devotion. Very nice. cher

Omg...I love the write but I got to say two things.. Ignore that Black wall person.. You should read his lyrics:getting away with murder.. what a digust.. Anyways I was like woah this has alot of comments. lol but I guess someone clicked the post this critique quite a few times but no worries.

Anyways that black wall kid just really ticked me off. He has no write to say anything that mean to anyone of their beliefs. He just has a low self esteem.. and maybe a bad attitude...

Anyways I am glad you wrote this cause it shows that you can find the truth the way. Cause one day or another we all will have to go through this, find the truth. I have. I definately no my beliefs. But sometimes I wonder that some people should also open up and just try and seek it too. I mean I love this write so beautiful. I am stilll urgh mad of what that kid told you. It mustive offended you...

Well anyways I love it

White linen to protect you from cold
Your skin young but a heart so old

seems as if you are referring innocence. this is an interesting piece. surrender all to God and all will be well. He is our Atlas holding the many worlds of many people. Surrender to him. It would be beautiful if such bliss were true...if you have problems fall to your knees and pray. I'm a pessismistic (?) person, I tend to look at the glass half empty. So to tell me to pray and God will hear your words of plea he will lift the problems you no longer will bare...a fantasy i think. but then again, there is a part of me that thinks God can Atlas. Your piece is short and simple-i like it.

Shed your problems on your pillow
For God to bury…
And surrender your all for Him to carry!

whisper your secrets before night and for that brief dark hours god will carry a heavy burden. surrender and you sleep lighter. am i get the message or am i cold. this is good. sorry for my ramblings but i tend to do that-thats a forth of a reason why my comments are so long. good piece.

later days

Yes, each night as I cast off into castles of sand, I shed my worries and ask for guidance. I often wonder why some even ask the question, "What if there is no God?" It doesn't seem to matter as I would live my life the same way believing, and find so much richer the sharing and love boundless.
The surrender is such a lovely idea, the mind is a foolish wanderer, wondering about the answers to questions that have no reason to be pondered. Great job thanks for sharing.
peace and love,
