As the hobo asks for a hand the politician looks away,
Says, “It’s your own fault that you turned out that way.”
When the old woman asks for help the young man looks aside,
Says, “It’s not my obligation and pays her no mind.”
As the mugging occurs a crowd walk and glance,
Not knowing the one who needs help may be their last chance.
Might be your doctor, your teacher, your neighbor, your friend,
Those you would help, then why not him?
As genocide occurs the President closes his eyes,
Says, “They have nothing to offer and not American lives.”
A child searches through trash for food for the day,
You say you are human, how can you look away?
