Once, a city full of life
blended by cultures
diverse by all means, now
a ghost town
A ferocious storm blew in
left her mark
everyone will recall the name
Katrina
After the winds died
all was well, so we thought
another disaster, so devastating
brought horror to all
Houses with only the tops visible
a safe haven for those stranded
dodging, the ever so rising water
waiting to be rescued
Families lost, displaced wandering,
surviving by anyway possible, hoping
someone please help us
time passed, no one came
Hope turn to desperation, leading
to degrading unspeakable acts
witnessed by all, and judged by many
Who is to blame
Labled as refugees, with
no place to call home
living as squatters
What will become of us and our city
A city now infested, unliveable
a floating tomb, portraying death
as never seen before
A city some wish to forget
In time, my beloved city
will rise again, shine brightly
Beautiful New Orleans
A city remembered
