Its like when you walk over to him - he smiles and you smile back - then this feeling comes over you ... guilt.
    Why do you feel guilty?
He buys you a drink, you get chatting, you find you have a lot in common. But those butterflies are not there, there is no smile when he speaks or any feeling of fantasy when he touches your hand.
He is just another bloke in the crowd.
You see through him and imagine you are with someone else. That's how he doesn't catch on. You drink, and drink till the time comes. Yours or his? I prefer to go back alone. If no one can compare then why put yourself out there so you can make those comparisons. No one will be you, no one will compare. But still we look to try and find some common ground. We all do it. We are all guilty. That's just heartbreak for you ....

I've been kinda feeling that as well, just with the opposite genders, cause well, I'm a guy...though I'm not particularly looking (though in the background everyone including me is at least 'looking) I've found that people I hang with...not neccesarily go out, I'm not big on dating just anyone, in fact I haven't dated anyone up to this point, but the people I hang with, I don't feel anything, no one, not old people, not new people give that certain air of nervous excitement whenever you are about to talk to them or see them, except for almost one new person...who is, conveniently, already in a serious relationship, but ya, I guess there's no hurry, so what am I talking about, I've got years...anyway, thanks for posting...raises a whole basket of thoughts...thanks again...

It means a lot to them, as it does to you.
