    dotsThe Foolish Mandots
    -------------------------------------------

    Driving along the freeway,
    enjoying the cool fall breeze.

    Noticing a black sedan
    recklessly speeding my way.
    As he closes in,
    my mirror reveals
    a cell phone,
in the hands of a man,
    oblivious to anything.

    Cautiously aware of war drums,
    pounding out " Warning",
    loudly in my mind.

    Highway Patrol passing,
ignoring the man in the black sedan.
Voice inside yelling "get back here."
    "Don't you see the man
with the cell phone in his ear."

    The fool is not aware
of the space he is consuming.

    ................OH NO!.................

    Standing beside my van
blankly staring at a jumbled mess.
Like an accordion ready to be in a band

No feeling of pain with in.
    Not a drop of blood
    do I see.

    Focusing on the ground,
    I see a lifeless body.
    Mangled and unrecognizable,
laying in a pool of blood.

    Eyes wandering slowly,
    spotting the fool
    with the cell phone,
    still in his ear.

    Highway Patrol back,
    asking what happened here.
Radio announcing ambulance on the way.
    Hearing him say don't hurry,
just bring her a body bag.
    Looking back at the body,
    feeling bad for the lady.

    Realizing no one notices me,
    try to yell out,
    but no words I hear.
    Feeling light headed,
    reach out to touch,
    the officer on the highway.
    Shocked as my hand
    went completely thru.
    Confusion takes over,
    as I move slowly
    towards the lifeless being.
    Looking into frightened eyes,
    finally recognizing those
    cold eyes staring back
    are eyes of mine..

You have explained just how dangerous cell phones while operating a motor vehicle really is. One is not fully alert, therefore not prepared for the unexpected. Totally an awesome job describing the consequences of not be alert of the dangers around us.

Highly original and well thought out. I knew what was coming at the end, but it was still chilling and all for the sake of one moron phoning whilst driving - when will they learn.
