For my husband, the best Dad I've ever known.

    dotsThe Daddots
    -------------------------------------------

    He gave up his dreams,
Works a job he doesn't much like.
    But it's good money
And helps put food on the table.

    He takes out the garbage
    And helps with the dishes.
    Patiently explains homework
    And suffers through SpongeBob.

    Weekend fishing trips
That only last a couple hours
    Because the kids get bored,
And refuse to touch something slimy.

    He doesn't complain.
    Doesn't mind being
    The Mighty Spider Killer
In a house full of females.

    When asked why
    He does all he does
    He only smiles
And says " I'm the Dad."

    He does more
    Than most fathers.
    Sometimes more
    Than some mothers.

    Doesn't expect praise
    Or recognition.
    Maybe a hug
    And a goodnight kiss.

    Just says it's right
    And how it should be.
    They're his girls
    And he's The Dad.

It sounds good and all, but it doesn't flow too well. It's easy to get bored of reading it if it has no flow to it. Try adding rhymes or making each line have the same amount of syllables, or something along those lines.

      Unconditional love.
    Just does what he does...because.
He sounds wonderful, and it's good that you can see that and let him know, in this touching and lovely poem.
I too, smiled while reading this. How can I not? It was a pleasure to read.

      Wow! Dads are great.

I am a sucker for these maternal writes. I am a father and have the privilege of being loved by my daughters.

Good fathers never feel that there is something owed to them. The child is reward enough and will always be enough.
Sponge bob... I have had to sit through it myself but I have grumbled more often than not. Under my breath though.. HEHE

This is a great write and because it is ode to dad, it will go into my fav's.

    Respect and Admiration

What a wonderful tribute! That is just so amazing...you have to fall in love with a man that has a heart like this! You're lucky to have one, and I'm married to one of those men too-his children are his world! This was just a terrific write. This was just so heartfelt and honest! I love it and I'm gonna put it on my list..thanks so much for sharing! You are a lucky woman to have a man like this to love you and your children! He's also a lucky man to have someone like you to acknowlege his worth with a write like this!

This is sooo wonderful! Darrin is definitely "Tha Dad"! And the best part is that you and the girls love him enough that it makes it all worth it. I think you needed to put something in about his humor too. He's one funny guy!

    Loved it, Traci.

Sweetness you know how much I respect that SuperMan and this just adds to the awe.

Very well spoken and a tribute most fitting. I really liked the fishing part and the way you showed his humbleness. Men such as your husband are few and far between (almost non-exsistent) and you are both lucky to have one another...
    One word...Dynamo...lol

And suffers through SpongeBob?? Songebob is funny as heck! squidworth's fat feet squish suish squish when he walks ha ha ha. this is excellent! its great to have a Dad like that. my Dad was there, he never did that kind of stuff, watch toons with us. but we did watch movies at home alot and go to out to the movies too. Dads are just as important as Moms even though it's a different connection. I really love these writes Traci. Parents who love thier children get my highest honor! let the picky pickytons come in and fix whatever but the message is eternal and deserves my vote 5 out of 5 and a fav!,

Now I am going to take the liberty of saying "cool beans and bologna"... This description of a dad is ... well it is real touching you know... wish I had a dad that was there for me like that but no I got stuck with the lazy ass bum that never did freaking showed caring after I was freaking five years old... I wish I would have had something better... I really do... Some people would want to have a father period but the way he has treated me is just so ... so... unexplainable... he never even took time to read me a freaking bed time story when I was young... when I had nightmares he never would tell me it would all be ok he never did any of that never... I am glad your family has a guy like that... really glad

Travi, this is so wonderfully simple, it's...womderful!

You don't try to use any meanings or big words or anything, you just tell the truth. What a great guy.

I found my smile getting wider and wider as I read through, he'll be honoured by this tribute.

    Bloddy well done

    Be Happy

this was so sweet and loving. He sounds like a great guy and you're obviously very appreciative of him which makes him a lucky guy.

For such a Dad is worthy to be praised! A hero is he! His name may not be up in Neon Lights, may not get recognized in public, may not even be popular in others eyes. But, still a hero, is he! His Love for his family is unconditional. All the headaches, heartaches, laughs, smooches and hugs from his girls, he wouldn't have it any other way, I'm sure..For this girl has a Dad such as this. Aren't we the lucky ones?????????
