    -------------------------------------------

Memories like initials embedded in a tree,
    are etched in my heart.
Parts of me only shared with those,
    most dear to me.

In all our lives, there are people
    who come and go.
    Each one leaving something special,
    wonderful, exciting, heartbreaking,
    joyous, something lasting,
for us to hold on to when we are not strong
    enough to stand alone.

Like the initials left on a tree,
There are those who never leave us.
    Their memory will forever be
    engraved on our hearts.
There to help us when days are long..

Aaah, memories! Silver fragments of bygone days, blessing us even though the physical presence is gone.

    Nice work Desi!

i loved this poem. (obviously so does everybody else) People can truly relate to this. It's simple and not forced. That's how it seems to me. Silver fragment said that the repetition of initials bugs him, but I think it's good. It's just stating the fact again. Using something else might have ruined ths great poem. Keep up the good work! I hope you read and comment on one of my poems.
    Much love

I really liked this...it was uplifting and a very universal poem in that everyone who is truly human can relate to what you're saying. The concept of the impact other people have on our lives, no matter how small or seemingly inconsequential a contribution they make, is fascinating.

do like this poem. I like it's simplicity. You see, these are simple, beautuful truths that you describe and they do not require a lot of description. Well done.

Yes, like the previous commenter said, I also like the comparison between engraving initials on threes and memories engraved in our hearts. There are always those people that you will never forget, no matter what.
The only thing that bugs me when I read this is the repetition of "Memories like initials embedded in a tree" at the beginning and "Like the initials left on a tree" at the end. Maybe you should find another way to formulate this instead of repeating "initials"? Maybe something about scars and bark? But that's just my opinion :)

this is cool. i like the comparison u used. cuz every person u come in contact with does leave some kind of impression. and when ur close to someone they leave emotions or feelings that change from person to person. good write.

This was a very nice poem. It reminds me of the people I love today. It was simple and had a casual flow to it that was easy to go along with. The ideas of initials in a tree was original, I like that feel of description. Perhaps if you put a little more description into it itll be more heart grabbing. Who knows maybe make it a lover or a friend you lost. Just a suggestion lol. But its still fine the way it is.
