Halloween a fool’s holiday.
People dressing funny to party.
Pretending to be somebody else.
Hiding behind a hideous costume,
consuming mindless brews.
Children walking or tripping,
pushing to get a treat or somthing.
Parents standing back watching,
their cute little beasties reaching.
Door openers... greetings the same.
Goodies in hand and smile on face.
Some in costumes scaring hebe jebes
out of the babies who begin to scream.
Others hiding behind closed drapes,
spying from the darkness agape.
Nosy enough to watch the kayos,
but to cheap to participate.
Pumpkins with gruesome grins
and bright flaming eyes with in.
Flickering eerie shadows about,
threatening to blow out.
Witches stupidly stuck in a tree.
Hoping no pass a byre sees
red embarrassed face of thee.
Skeletons showing off,
bone dancing in the buff.
Hanging and swinging for all to see.
Hungrily moving to the breeze.
Scarecrows with fresh straw insides.
Poles down the back keeping them upright.
Fearing black raven to land and beak,
knowing body and mind just to weak.
Halloween, what a trip for the dead.
I for one rather spend Halloween in bed.
Undercover with flashlight, paper and pen,
wondering what fear to begin.
