We travelled side by side
with inclining mountains
Resting in their foothills
and drinking from their fountains
Hunting for the food of kings
we spoiled our humble tongues
Sheltered by the ancient trees
we purified our lungs
We followed silent rivers
engulfed in hues of teal
To some what is utopia,
to us it was but real
Signs and symbols forged our path
to our main objective
We were to find a treasure
that would change our whole perspective
And so we strayed into the forest
covering our trails
So that anyone that follows
wanders off and fails
After weeks or months of rambling
and following the signs
Our host and guide lead us no more
twisting in the lines
Without the guides there was no way
to reach the goal we set
Our quest would grow perennial,
thus a closure it has met
We spoiled our souls a little longer
our host still offered more
The forest grew and flourished
in a nature's great folklore
The days of pleasure went on fast
the time had come to part
Not a word, but deep inside
this parting broke the heart
Returning to our humble homes
we remembered our lost goal
And pondering in retrospective
we realized it all in whole
While we wandered through the woods
we took joy from its existence
Seeking for the elven gold
guided by our own persistance
While the guides began to fade
and we withdrew our treasure quest
Already, without knowing,
we have opened the bequeathed chest |
