Description: This poem is a simple observation of an oft too frequent occurrance. The death of wildlife upon the highways of our country. In this case an antelope (The Canadian prairies have the only antelope in North America to my knowledge). The incident occurred in Saskatchewan mid winter and my feelings at the time were borne of futility and depression....
Death in Saskatchewan -------------------------------------------
Oer the prairies
Ice winds roil
The powder snow
Thirty degrees below
Past a dead antelope
Frozen to the gut
It's head mangled
By a semi truck
Carrying a load of ice cream....
