Tempest stood outside of the casino admiring the decor. "It's wretched," she said after a few minutes.
"Just mojo's style," Estaban said with a smirk. "Flashy and green." Tempest nodded and then the two walked inside.
For Tempest it was nice to be under the cool air. She knew Estaban hated Boston, but she didn't mind so much. The dreary city with its constant overcast and afternoon rains appealed to a softer part of herself, when she allowed herself to be soft.
"We're here to see Mojo," Tempest announced when she arrived at the front desk.
"Point the wat to the fat man," Estaban added with a grin.
Tempest sighed. "We aren't going to get any job if you keep insulting him," she chided as the front desk worker left.
"Then you don't know Mojo as well as I thought," Estaban said tucking a loose strand of Temp's hand back behind one of her perfectly carved ears. "He wouldn't have called us out here, if he hadnt' chosen us for whatever he wants us to do. He does his research and knows his business."
Tempest nodded but let it alone. "Mojo is out of town, but will be back tomorrow," the man said. Tempest's whole face turned to stone. "But he invites you both to stay at the casino's hotel for the night."
"All expenses on the house?" Tempest asked perking up.
"No, of course, not," the front desk man said. "The expenses you incur will be deducted from your bounty."
"Figures," Tempest said under her breath but then sighed. She didn't have a choice. "When is he due back? Tomorrow?"
"Fine," Tempest said. "I'll inform my crew of the unnecessary overnight stay."
Tuesday had received the message from Esteban and after putting the supplies away, she headed there.
Arriving at the hotel, she looked around and saw that everyone was all dressed up. A smile on her face she shapeshifted into her blond bombshell version wearing a little black number, that hugged her curves, and in this shape she had curves. The neckline in the front plunged low to show off her assets... and the back as well.
She walked into the lobby as if she owned it. Looking around she tried to see if she could catch a glimps of the Captain and Esteban, but no such luck. They must still be up in their room, so she headed into the casino.
Tempest walked out of the bathroom and into the main room. She was wearing the hotel's terry cloth robe and had her brown curls wrapped up in a towel. She walked over towards where Estaban was setting up a communication device.
"When is it going to be done?" she asked as she moved to sit on the edge of the bed.
"A couple of seconds," Estaban said as he connected two wires. "There done. Now we can contact our people."
"Good, because I want a report on what's happening, and I want them to know that they can meet us here for a night's stay, at least until Mojo gets his ass here."
Estaban nodded and then began making calls to their people. Tempest went to the closet and pulled out a clean pair of brown suede pants and a black leather vest. She was going to put them on, when she realized that there was a dress hanging in the closet as well.
"Where'd this come from?" she asked turning and looking at Estaban. He was still on the horn calling their people, but he smiled back at her, letting her know he had bought it.
Tempest blushed and then took the dress off the hook. She walked to the bathroom where she slipped into some underwear before pulling on the dress.
She felt the cool, silky material on her body and liked it. The dress itself was not too fancy, but not too plain either. It was just right, just for Tempest.
Leaving the bathroom, she came out to see Estaban closing the channel.
"Did you reach everyone?" Tempest asked.
Estaban only smiled at her at first. "Yeah, all but the twins," he said and then waggled his finger, asking her to turn around, which she did with a twirl. "Nice, very nice," Estaban said as he stood up and began moving to the bathroom. He was his turn for a shower.
Riding out as far away as they could Haruko and Mamimi were heavily involved in their escape to pick up the receiver. The electronic pulse ran through their bodies like a shock from a cold shower.
Haruko revved up the Vespa and gripped the throttle firmly. The shouting and cursing of the land lord in the background was fading quickly.
Mamimi desperately looked for anything to grab on to her feet flailing off the end of the scooter.
Rei decided that running after the 2 was pointless and dissappered. Repairing several miles ahead calmly she replied to the radio transmission. "The twins are unavailable at the moment. Here is your data." her voice carried neutrally as she uploaded the message and their findings about Quol.
As she ended the transmission she heard the squeal of tires and the rev of a small piston driven vehicle. Casting her eyes in the direction of the noise Rei spotted a single gold colored headlight bobbing up and down the stretch of road.
Haruko rode the moped up as close to Rei as possible before peeling a slide.
"Was that necessary?" Rei asked gently tilting her head.
"No." Haruko replied still feeling the rush from her run in with the flat owner.
"Our findings have been sent." She added.
"Good and what of the Abernathy Car Fax? Any details?" Haruko kicked the kick stand down and removed her helmet, scarf and gloves.
Mamimi who thought she was going to die slid off the back of the scooter and got away from it as fast as possible.
"Yes," Rei nodded. "It appears to have caused quite a stir."
"I see, continue." Haruko walked to the back of the scooter and opened the trunk placing her riding accessories in to it before closing and locking it.
"Quol stumbled on something that she wasn't supposed to see according to my most recent reports."
The girls gathered around and Haruko spoke up. "Ok girls our next goal is to find out who killed Quol and what their motives were. At this point and venture we know that the person who did it was very large, very strong and very skilled. My gut tells me that they were a hitman."
"Well what’s to stop then from coming after us?" An edgy Mamimi asked.
"Nothing, we're already involved. The moment we received that message." But it wasn't as easy as that and Haruko knew it. Any investigation and leads meant that some one this through would come after them and any one connected. So they would have to go after them if they wanted to live.
Mamimi felt Haruko's vibe and fell silent. Haruko tried to hide her feeling from both her sisters and seldom did this tactic work. But she was getting better at it. "We I'm one for sticking together." Mamimi added.
"That's for sure especially if we're going to get any clues. We have to start at the most likely places. Now where would Quol have gone first?"
"The bar." Mamimi answered.
"Exactly! Let's go... who's thirsty?" Haruko asked already back and digging out her riding gear.
Even Rei who had been sitting back the whole time silent had to think this was funny as she watched the two fumble through what they called logic. The humor turned into a small smile that tugged at the corners of her mouth.
Estaban left Tempest in the room to change and get ready for their one night of recreation, while he went down to the main lobby and scoped out the action, both on the tables and off.
He had just reached the ground floor of the casino, when he spotted a sexy blonde in a black dress. Smiling he walked over towards her and leaned in just over her shoulder.
"Say, Bonita, what's a babe like you doing in a..." Estaban's jaw dropped when the woman turned around. "...Tuesday!
Estaban took a step back to get the whole picture of what he was seeing. He gave Tuesday a look up and then down, taking it all in before smiling and returning his eyes to her face.
"Dios Mio, chica, you are looking hot! Where'd you steal that dress!" he said in a low whisper. "Nevermind, I don't care! You better be careful looking that good. Someone will notice."
