Description: Before Haruko was a twin, before she was a pirate and before she left the safety of her world. Haruko was a space patrol officer.
Reviewing the work from the criime scene reveals more to the case than was once thought.
But who was behind the murder of Quol.
Past lives -------------------------------------------
All three huddled around the decoder that they had taken from the Rising Phoenix. Not knowing what the message that Quol risked her life to get to them was all about they tried to play the message.
Quol's voice was frantic and she was speaking really fast in Ferengi. Something was wrong at that point.
Everyone looked at each other with a puzzled expression.
"Something happened to the translator." Rei stated neutrally.
"Wait." Haruko said feeling the rain drops on her back and head. "I think its time to find some place to do this. Here is not a wise place to do this."
"Agreed, we should find shelter." Rei replied.
"Well there's always that motel over there." Mamimi stood up and pointed ahead...
The silhouettes appeared in the door of the Lion's head keep. Water pooled where they stood.
"Are ya just gonna stand there aund let da heet ouut or ar ya cumin in mate." The balding man at the reception desk yelled at them.
Haruko stepped forward into the light She turned back just enough to speak out of the side of her mouth to Rei and Mamimi. "Let me do the talking."
The door shut behind Rei.
Haruko slipped right up to the counter quick enough to startle the inn keeper.
"How cun I help ya Mate." He said bearing a jagged tooth grin.
Haruko smiled nervously under her peach colored hair draped over her face. ~And I thought the Klingons had bad dental work.~
Taking her hands she brushed her soaked bangs off her face. "Yes you may my good man. We need a room, a single if you please."
On cue the inn keeper turned around and reached up on the peg board behind him and took a key and tag turned around and tossed it to Haruko "Number 15, me lovelies, down the hall up the stairs and to the right."
The other 2 that had joined Haruko both turned and headed down the hall way just as quickly as Haruko caught the keys.
A cloud of smoke permeated the stagnant air layering up at the top of the ceiling but as they went down the stretch of hall they could see the fog like substance collect. The further down the hallway they went more the smoke settled.
Haruko felt totally grossed out by the cloud of death stick smoke as was Rei.
The only one who didn't feel this way was Mamimi who now mote than ever longed for a drag off a death stick.
This retro style inn appeared to have that 21 century English style decor about it. But it was off by a long shot with the 23 century floor mount lighting that lit up the hall ways.
At which point Haruko wanted to know if they could afford to keep this inn in some kind of decent condition why couldn’t they afford an air scrubber.
But the icing on the cake was she could feel Mamimi's craving for the Smokey substance. She bolted down the hall way at that point. Bounded up the stairs and ran down the hall way to door # 15 where she fumbled with the keys till she found the right one and plugged it into the door. Throwing the door open she gasped for air. Throwing herself through the thresh hold she closed the door.
She could hear foot steps down the hall way and she could feel this craving as it burned in her veins. The foot steps echoed down the hard wood corridor and off the lath and plastered walls.
When the sound had reached the door Haruko sprung off the wall.
On the other side Mamimi walked up to the door with Rei directly behind her. "Uh Haruko open u... eep" Mamimi hadn't even gotten the second knock on the door before the door sprung open and Haruko seized the clueless girl.
Mamimi was surprised at how quickly this all happened. Fist she was out in the hallway and now she was in the loft.
The door closed quickly behind her Mamimi stepped away from her sister.
Rei saw Mamimi get snatched into loft then the door slam shut. This was really strange behavior on Haruko's part. But hadn't it been for her link with the two she would have been at a totally loss for what was going on.
Haruko's reaction to the same smoke that she had experienced was something she tuned out. Though this attempted to lessen the effect of the death stick smoke only shaved 2 seconds of time off the actual expososure. It was practically miniscule in terms of exposure time. Their senses could only pick up on it once the chemical left their bodies.
