Dear angel,
To where
has that golden glimmer of yours gone?
Have failed attempts in flight
Made that pleasing smile withdrawn?
Let not these plummets of the past
fetter your feathered dreams,
for they are but dark hours
before greetings
from a new dawn.
Trust that I am no stranger
to the yearning inside your soul;
To fly, to watch the world;
Afar.
Trust that you are indeed fashioned
to soar;
In majestic beauty
Of the angel that you are.
I understand
that mere words uttered or written
can never elevate you
to those heights;
Why, perhaps you feel
this is just irrational;
Seeing I am not you,
Yet I speak of these insights.
Dear angel, do keep in mind
That the wishes
held within your heart
have not at all been hollow;
For hope
is the only certainty
that fills the emptiness of tomorrow.
I love to read poems that people write for/about their friends, because it shows that the writer is compassionate and very caring towards those around them. Just reading this, I felt MY spirits being lifted because it was just so beautiful. Simply put, I loved the poem so much that I am going to add it to my favorites. Great job. ...bb...
Hi, This is such a beautiful piece. It brought tears. You two share a very special friendship. I hope as years pass the friendship will continue to be strong. I know she will love this poem. A very well written special piece. You take care, wanda
This is a wonderful poem, charged with feeling and love for your friend. She will be able to percieve that and she will savour every word again and again. It is inspirational and your images are beautiful.
Your friend is going to be touched by your poem, as was I. It's a beautifully personal piece, written in a way that screams with sincerity. Don't be too suprised if she bursts into tears and reads it every day. If it doesn't lift her spirits, it will most certainly show her that there are people that really care for her. Nice one!
This is a lovely poem for your friend. I am sure she would love reading this and feel fortunate that you care about her feelings so. I love the last stanza of this. Hope is indeed something we all need to hold onto. It brings possibilities back into our lives. It gives you the belief that all is not as bad as it seems and brighter days are yet to come. This is a very inspiring poem, well written and expressed. I am sure she will feel better to know you care for her so. Lovely! Take care.
