Never forget that you don't know what tomorrow will bring. I have six daughters now, and since my best friend and I looked so much alike, I can still see my Jade in each one of my daughters! Love everyone close to you as if you will never see them again, had I known, I would have.

    Two years old,
    and beautiful as can be.
    My best friends baby.
Born when we were just sixteen.
    Blue eyes and brown hair.
    Smart as a whip!
    But we didn't know
    that she wouldn't stay long.
    Gods borrowed angel.
    Too soon gone.
    My husband to her
    was "up above".
    To hard for her
    to say "Uncle Dave".
    I watched her grow
    since before she was born.
    Then one day,
    From our lives
    she was torn.
    That cruel Texas road,
    on a beautiful fall day.
    The car crashed,
    and she was gone.
    God took her away.
    Never to see
    those blue eyes again.
    Never to know
    what she could have been.
    Sixteen years ago today,
    He took her away.
    Gods borrowed angel.
    No longer to stay.
    I miss my angel.
Though I see her sweet face.
In the faces of my daughters,
who could not take her place.
    So love them as much
    as you possibly can.
    Because you never know
    what is in His plans.
    Because these angels are His,
    don't you see?
    They're loaned to us
    with uncertainty.
Of how long we can hold them.
    Or how long they'll stay.
    So love His borrowed angels,
    until He takes them away.

Such a lovely poem, so sad. Having lost a child myself, this poem brough a lump to my throat. I too wonder how my son would look if he were around us now. Would he look like me or my husband? Would he have married? Would he have been good and kind, smart and funny? So many unanswered questions. I tell my other three every day that I love them. I make sure they have a kiss and cuddle every morning and every night, I never take anything for granted any more. Beautiful poem, beautifully written and definitely a fav.

Wonderful. Brought a tear to my eye, actually. Very true, and very well-written. It just seems like some are too good to stay on this earth for too long, and we can only love the time that we had with them. You had a very important message embeded in this piece. It's very important not to take for granted what you've got, and those around you, because you never know when a "Texas road" may change your plans.

I would like to see it broken up into stanzas, perhaps. It would make it a little easier on the eye, I think. Other than that I have no critisim on this. It was a very moving piece.

I really enjoyed this poem. As a parent I can definately see the power of these words. We can protect our children, but there is alway the uncertainty of time and when it will come to an end.

It is important to cherish the moment that are with us now. The moments that will be are just around the corner.

This is a beautiful poem. Really very touching and heartfelt. Your feelings are very well expressed and the sadness and sense of loss felt with your words. Life is indeed a gift. We all seem to take time for granted, thinking we have all the time in the world, yet in reality, we never know what the day will bring, or how long we have left to live. I have lost people very dear to me, untimely and know how devestating this is. I love how you describe them as "borrowed angels". That is just beautiful and very soothing to think that way about such a tragedy. This is a lovely poem. Very well written indeed. Take care.
