When we were little and very small
Mom would look out for us all
Making sure we were tucked in tight
Looking in on us each and every night
She made a house of haven and rest
Causing us to feel so very blessed
We had such a loving and caring home
Always having someone, never alone
A big hearty breakfast every morn
Loved since the day we were born
Along with the other dishes she fixed
Three kinds of beans would be mixed
Large, baby Lima's and navy beans too
For us children, that is what she would do
Fixing all our clothes and mend our hearts
When someone had hurt it and tore it apart
Coming in from school in the afternoons
A lemony smell of freshness in every room
Remembering now that I am grown
How Mom made our house a home
Filling our home with such loving care
Holding those memories close and dear
Myself, praying to have her giving heart
Without a gift, she would let no one part
She will give you the clothes off of her rack
And Mom will not expect anything back
Out of her cabinets, groceries she will give
Making sure you have, this is how she lives
Mom is a great big diamond in my eyes
Her giving does not take me by surprise
That is just the kind of woman she is
And for this, I feel surely blessed
