“Head Up”

To have your heart broken,
Is a repetitive slap in the face,
A permanent experience in your life,
One that your heart can’t erase

But somehow or another,
You choose to let it go,
Hiding the pain and frustration,
Determined never to let it show

All the trust seems to vanish,
Poof, into thin air,
Now got that nonchalant attitude,
But deep inside, we still care

So, we throw trust out the window,
Ain’t got nothing no more,
Love and trust are gone,
Our hearts’ permanently sore

All the tears have been cried,
And our eyes are dried out,
No words will come through,
When we open our mouths

Hate and disgust,
Is filled in our hearts,
Though we try to deny it,
Our world fell apart

We try to make excuses
As to why they did what they did
Moping and wining,
Like we did as a kid

But why feel dependant on them,
When they decided to leave?
When they messed up our fairytale
And destroyed all our dreams

This is our world,
Theyre only one person living in it,
Stand up and raise your head,
Don’t pity yourself, simply rid it:

‘Rid yourself of the strings
That you decided not to cut,
Of the memories you had,
Don’t use them as your crutch

You’re a survivor indeed,
A true soldier standing tall,
Always keep your head up,
Don’t ever let it fall

What you did with them,
You can do by yourself,
Rely on you and you only
Don’t depend on someone else

See, life is a game,
One your forced to play
Different decisions all the time,
Ever changing each day

If you give up, you fail
You lost that quick
God is the puppeteer,
The one playing all the tricks

But its all a lesson in living,
You soon learn about life,
“Is this right or wrong?”
You finally start thinking twice

Remember to keep your focus,
Its all about you,
Cuz when it comes to consequences…
You’re the one it boils down to

What you decide to do,
Is your responsibility alone,
Your destiny and future
Is something you own!!’

What they did was nothing,
But a bump in the road,
Dust the dirt off your shoulder
And claim your spot on the throne

Reclaim what was yours,
And keep your chin up high
Cuz the power of love for yourself
Is something nobody can deny!!
