    Yes, I am the child
But you should respect me too
    Sometimes you should listen
Because I might know what to do
You claim you know what's best
Well, here is my advice to you

    Don't assume you know everything
    You're not a rocket scientist
If you need advice come to me
I might be able to help you
If you want respect from me
You'd better give a little respect

I'm your child but not your slave
I have a life of my own
You want me to live my life through you
    But, sorry that won't happen
Kids grow up to be what they want
Not what you want them to be

I'll always need you in my life
    But you need to realize
You will someday need me too
    Someday when you are old
You will need me by your side
But, yes I am the child

i was one who was a slave to my family. so i can relate. i may have not have been the best kid ever, but we do have our own lives as well. the poem itself wasnt to bad. topics did not change, and you explained yourself well. but i the flow was off in some areas. the 1st stanza was espcially good. not to shabby for an 8th grader ;-P

THANK YOU FOR WRITING THIS BECAUSE IN MY OPINION ALL APRENTS SHOULD LEARN FROM IT. GREAT JOB!

I agree with "ROSES" this poem is so completely true. I feel the exact ways ometimes, and I bet that many, many people feel this way as well. Parents don't seem to realize what it is like to be a "child" sometimes. I mean to say, a lot of parents thing that just because they are the so called parent they have the reight to treat you with disrespect. Well . . . that is not true, and they will have to realize that someday soon.

So true. So true. Almost all parents I think treat their kids like they are of lower importance than them or something. Well for me anyways, my parents could say "Because I'm the parent, that's why." And act like it's the final point of the arguement. I always reply "Well I'm the child." And they don't seem to know how to rebuttle. Anyways, pretty good write. It was nice how the beginning and the ending tied together with the "yes, I am the child." Good job.

    Peace,
    Squirreley Scribe
